MRP is middle relief pitcher. meaning if a starting pitcher gets taken out in the 5th, the MRP would take over till the set-up man. im going to guess that LRP is late relief pitcher. AKA set up man. his job is to usually pitch the 8th inning and have the CP(closing pitcher) finish the game in the 9th.

Middle relief pitchers come into the game in the 7th and 8th innings usually.
Long relief pitchers come in fairly early in the game, like when a starter gets lit up or injured, and pitch until they get to middle relief.
Closing pitcher comes in the 9th (or the last) inning to finish the game.

If the Red Sox make the playoffs, Francona will need Malone to start Game 3. Certainly, a Topps Special Edition card will then be produced.
