Alex Rodriguez new contract?

More and more it looks like A-Rod will file for Free Agency and few baseball analysts I've listened to on ESPN radio have said that Boras is looking for an entirely new 10-year deal worth $300 to $350 million. Is this wishful thinking or a realistic possibility? What kind of contract do you think he'll end up with and where do you expect him to sign?

Update:

Personally, I think no team will repeat the mistake that John Hicks did in Texas when he signed A-Rod to the original $252 million contract. He spent nearly $50 million more than the next closest offer, however Boras gave the illusion that he was in a bidding war and that A-Rod was close to signing somewhere else.

Yes, the Yankees could spend $400 million, but why spend so much more if the next closes contract offer is for $200 million. If you know he can't get a better offer all the Yankees have to do is wait him out and make him come to the bargining table.

Also, when you see lower salary teams like the Diamondbacks, Rockies and Cleveland getting deep into the post season the necessity of signing A-Rod doesn't appear to be that dire. You can get a lot more talent for $40 million a year that what A-Rod will ever bring.

So we'll have to wait and see how it plays out.

Actually he said between 400-500 million not 300 - 350 million. As a Yankees fan, if i was running the Yankees, if he opts out I'de let him go and wouldn't even bid on him, for 2 reasons.

    1) The Yanks don't need him no matter how many homers he gets, and even if he batted 1.000 all year with a homer every at bat, the Yanks need pitching not offense, pitching and defense wins games not offense. Any team with great pitching & great defense, no matter how bad their lineup is is a winning team that no one could stop. History has proven over and over again teams built on hitting only get to the world series if they buy their own tickets.

    2) This is even more important, if the Yanks don't bid for him, if he opts out of his contract, no team will give him what Boras is asking, his only chance for getting 400 mil is with the Yanks because they are the only team that can afford to pay a player 40 mil a year, without cutting costs on other players. And these ridiculous contracts have to stop, whats next in 10 years some player will get a billion dollor contract, bad enough its a fortune to go see a ball game now, what will it be in 10 years a 100 bucks a ticket, $20 sodas, $40 hotdogs. Let him opt out and dont bid for him I say.

there's only a handful of ball clubs that could even afford A-Rod's new contract. the cubs, the angels, the red sox, and the yankees. it is unlikely that he will go to any other city.

i personally do not think that any player in this time is worth $360 million for 12 years. sure, a-rod will be in the hall of fame and most likely be the home run king by the time he retires, but are the yankees in the alcs right now? no. they're watching at home on their tvs just like the rest of us. he didn't earn this new contract and i don't think he should get it.

It's completely realistic. He could even sign for more. A-Rod is a special player there is no doubt about it. He could easily challenge for the all-time homer spot. He's also relatively young and could sign for 8-10 years.

I actually think he'll sign with Boston. He hasn't been on the Yankees long enough to fall to far into the rivalry and besides if Damon can do it why cant ARod. Boston definitely doesn't want Manny back. They haven't wanted him for years. Boston always try to trade in the offseason, but it beats me why. They've also been looking for a shortstop and may be able to make ARod a shortstop again. It also, if Manny leaves, gives another 3-4 punch with A-Rod and Ortiz. They're also one of the few teams who are willing to bid for him. Another place he might also go is Los Angeles and play for the Angels.

But there is always the chance he stays with the Yankees. As a Yankees fan I hope he does. Who knows?

No. third base is a place that has very few famous person high quality gamers. Up till this year he has churned out monster numbers per annum of his occupation 'roids or no 'roids. in simple terms through fact a plyer has a poor 2 month stretch after coming off a hip harm, and enjoying in manhattan after admitting he used PEDs for 3 years does no longer justify that a participant will play this manner for the subsequent 10 years. The Yankees are plying plenty extra useful now that he's interior the lineup and Mark Texiara is benifitting besides. that is called a droop. All gamers in all activities have them. that is impossible to think of that a participant ought to proceed to post those style of numbers for the subsequent 10 years through fact it tis hust no longer conceivable.

Only a few teams can afford to pay him the money he's asking for, but he will end up getting a record-setting deal. He will most likely end up with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, with the possibility of Boston. He will end up signing a 10-year contract for $315 million.

Cubs,Yankees and since Barry Bonds left the Giants might be able sign him. I see him signing a 10 year 350 million dollar contract.

First of all Boras is asking for 400m-500m. Arod will get from 350m-450m for 10 yrs. I think he has 3 options: 1)stay with the yanks 2)Sign with Boston if Lowell doesn't resign 3)LA Angels
