We would love to have you here in Charleston, SC. It is a beautiful state, we have a Greek Orthodox Church, friendly people, not too expensive, Veterans Hospital and you can Volunteer with me at American Red Cross! We can a;ways use someone for the AFES area, Armed Forces Emergency Service!
The Air Force base is still open here so you have the commissary to shop at too. Thre are lots of retired military people here

Utah!! St. George, Utah is an excellent choice. The climate is warm and dry year long. The summers do get a bit hot, but the humidity is very low..around 15%. There are many retirement communitites, the economy is good and the crime rate is very low. Just over the border into Arizona is another small community of mostly retired persons, named Beaver Dam. It's about 20 minutes away from the casinos where you can get a good meal for a small price. The weather is about the same as St.George. I have retired family members who live in both cities and they love it! Good luck to you in finding the perfect place!

Well, by the list of potential choices you have, it seems you have ruled out the United States.
Pity. I would have suggested Virginia, which has a pretty impressive military presence and one of the finest VA hospitals in the country is in Richmond. There are many small communities in the state that are within an hour or two drive of major cities.
Some of the nicest are in the Peninsula areas on the Chesapeake Bay or in the Shenandoah Valley.
Your call, my recommendations. We're not backward here, and they're pretty up-to-date in the areas I've mentioned, too.

You may want to look at Oklahoma or Texas, living expenses are still below the nations average, weather is pretty nice, and there are plenty of VA hospitals around bases. And if you decide on Oklahoma and the Ok City area, give me a call for reliable help, I run a "Senior Care" company wich provides household help to seniors and disabled adults.

Check out Boise Idaho--vets hospital, army and air base, huge hospital system, university, green belt streaches for miles and miles, 17 miles from town to a ski resort, Hewlit Packard, Micron Industries, clean clear water runs thru town and is full of trout and steel head. Big game hunting or site seeing--many small towns close by, a days drive to the Grand Tetons or West Yellowstone, Craters of the Moon, The 7 Devils, New airport, largest fbo in the Northwest in Boise, Diverse people and your church is available. There is a cancer center that does awesome care and work.
Check it out. Cascade, Blues and Rocky Mountains. Crime rate, maybe 12 murders a year in the entire state.

Why would even remotely consider leaving our country? Do you dislike it that much? We have so many great sites to see here or have you seen them all? I lived in Ohio for 57 years then moved to South Carolina. I love it here. No snow here & the cost of living is lower in many ways than in Ohio. (lots of affordable housing here) The sun shines here all the time & there's a lot to do to keep one's self busy. The airport is closeby & so is the VA hospital, which is a great one from what I hear.
