How did the term "straight" come about?
I always refer to someone as heterosexual. Straight means not crooked to me.

Exactly! If somebody's "gay," they're WRONG. "Straight" implies that someone's on the "straight and narrow," or right.
Just another way to bash gay people.

Maybe because some people think that straight people are on the correct path of life. They on on the straight path to heaven.
