What is the cost of living like in Central Connecticut?

I'm interviewing for a position in CT, close to Hartford. I'm wondering what I should expect as far as living expenses, rental prices, etc. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Connecticut is a very nice state and fairly inexpensive to live in. Don't live in Hartford proper though, it has gone downhill recently. The suburbs are very nice and renting a house/apt should be very reasonable. West Hartford is a great place to live. For more specific info try http://www.hartford.com/ they have the basics. You should also look on Craig's list (www.craiglist.org) for rentals. The company you are going to be working for may be able to help you out with recommendations.

The people in CT and in the greater New England area in general are very nice, unpretentious and warm. You will fit in quickly I think. Connecticut is not a densely populated state, there is quite a lot of open farm land. I do not live there currently, hopefully someone who does will provide a bit more info.

If you are doing any sightseeing while there, check out Mark Twain's house.
