I think I upset my Betta?
So basically I just moved down to so cal ( i go to usc) and couldn't part with my wonderful betta. So I got him all set up in his bowl by my bed and everything seemed fine! infact he seemed really energetic! it was insane! he was just swimming everywhere!!! So then... i was just about to go to bed right now... and i was looking at him while i was falling asleep and he was still going insane. I started looking at his surroundings... and noticed the red light on my telephone was nearby and turned it around and he stopped. and now he doesn't really look very happy.... and doesn't really want to move around much..... did i mess him up? how can i make him happy@!

bettas in the wild don't need a lot of light. keep in mind that waters in the wild are not necessarily clear and probably not strongly lit, due mostly to floating plant leaves. sunlight or artificial light can be detrimental to bettas. so, the RED LIGHT is making him insanely unhappy(detrimental) keep it off. I breed bettas and I keep my light very low. light is left on while eggs are being tended and before the fry are free swimming.

get him an aquarium with a heater and filter and plants, hes probably going nuts from the lack of stimulation and free space. bettas are tropical fiah and cant take room temp. just becasue he survives doesnt mean hes happy, doing that to bettas is the same as throwing a person in a 6 by 6 room at 50 degrees and tosing in a little food every now and then and if your lucky get your poo vacoomed out every now and then, dont support the betta cup trade. only buy them from aquariums for aquariums
it should be illegal because its the same as chaing up a dog outside and only feeding him, if the dog goes nuts, the betta will as well
the bettas are suffering, they are animals not decoration

If your bowl is big enough put a few guppys in there, Most bettas are fine with other fish and guppys can live in the same water conditions as bettas. I will just give him some company and guppys dont cost much. Also, try feeding him live brineshrimp as they love this. Live plants can also help. Turn the red light back on if it keeps him happy as well :P

attempt putting her in a much better tank, like a 10 gallon with quite a few different lady bettas. She's lived inclusive of lady bettas till now, so she's probable lacking them. it would help her to have some business enterprise. basically verify the hot tank is cycled, heat, and has some aquarium salt in it and many flowers and places to cover, and he or she'll love sharing it together with her new acquaintances. in case you prefer to variety her foodstuff recurring, this is advisable to do what I do. I even have betta pellets, tropical fish flakes, dried bloodworms (confident, i be attentive to you dont like those), betta flakes, and different meals. I feed my bettas some thing diverse at each and each feeding. they seem to love the type. :) And to suitable the guy who spoke till now, lady bettas CAN blow bubble nests. i've got viewed mine do it. I also have a woman, Opal, who blew a extensive nest once I took her out of a 10 gallon sorority tank because of the fact she became into bullying the different ladies. basically approximately as though to tutor how macho she became into (she became into feeling aggressive because of the fact it became into her tank, basically hers, till now those new ladies arrived), nicely, she blew a extensive nest and flared a team. It became into form of peculiar, yet cool. ladies can blow bubble nests, this is a splash-common actuality.

I would say he is trying to get used to his new surroundings. I would give it time. I would also experiment with the red light to see if that was causing the excitement.

he might just be getting used to the new surroundings...just wait a few days and see whether he goes back to normal

Bring your betta over to my place, we can drop him in to my 40g tank with my Jaguar. That will make think anything but sit around and mope looking unhappy.
How has his surroundings changed? Did he go from a busy room to a bedroom that has no people in it? Not all fish, but all of mine seen to like the interaction with people. I have one that likes to watch the TV when I turn on the news at night when I get home from work.
