Only for Muslims...Please think about it...?

One question I want to ask you .. why can not we Muslims all over the world have one Universal calender..based on the appearnce of moon.. we have modern scientific tools to know when the cresent will appear over a particular region.these can be used..? So why this diversity.? In my part of the world.. in the same area Eid was celeberated on two different days..And there is only one 20 feet wide road seperating the two..!

Is this right...?

Update:

my dear brothers and sisters...some of you have probably misunderstood the question.

I know the sighting is different from region to region according to the day and night..and due to weather one can not see the crescent, but that does not mean that it has not appeared or come out. And the different geographical regions will definitely have different days.

this is where our scientific tools will come in..

And is is right that Eid will be celeberated on two diffeent days in the same city..the two communities seperated by only 20 feet wide road.

I do not..what about you.. isn't is Un- Islamic?

Update 2:

And Ahmad ..it can not be a fixed like you said. The moons rotation is different and that is why it will be a rotational thing. What i imply is why this disarray or confusion.?

My dear this is the only problem we are facing today. everyone is following its own Islam . Racism is getting thick into our blood and we are only concerned about our own self without any social involvement while the West have united since after the advent of EU and today they are successful .

We need to embrace Universal Brotherhood as taught by Noblest of All being Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)

The Ramzan or Ramadan month in the Muslim-calender is totally based on the Moon.

One great thing about this calender is that each and every Muslim in this vast world has fasted during Spring, Summer Autum and Winter in his or her lifetime. Not like Christmas or Diwali or any other religions; all of which have more or less fixed days.

The Moon during this Holy Month appears only twice a year - once during the beginning of the Holy Month; the other when the month comes to an end.

The sighted-Moon has a radius of only 300kms. So, the difference in the days of celeberations.

I know, this causes confusion; but even then the higher authority is there to set things right. Obey the; because if they are wrong, then they are the sinners, not you.

    Dear,

I agree with you so that we have the same day celebrating Eid Mubarak and Fasting in the Month of Ramadan just like the Christians having Christmas on every 25th December.

On the other hand, dear, we are a slightly different, We are on "Rukyah" and "On seeing the first Moon of the Month". That's why we have "On" or "After" the day. If we can't see the moon due to weather, we go to RUKYAH. (Calculation of the Moon appearing). That's the Muslim Law. We are Muslim, therefore we follow the "Law". That's why at time we fast for 29 days and at time we fast for 30 days. These has been discuss decades of years ago, and the conclusion still goes as "Islamic Law".

That's why we are two different days.

Yeah it happened here in the States, too. I'll tell you the answer to your question. Islam allows for the freedom of thought; the searching to open one's mind. That is why you see different opinions of so many things. The moon is but one of them. Some people go by the sighting of the moon locally, some go by the sighting with the world, and some go by the calculations. The Prophet(saws) used to sight the moon BUT if he had the technology He would have used it I have no doubt. According to hadiths He had even stated (and don't quote me) that his people were simple and didn't have the means. (That's the general idea). I prefer calculations, BUT what I can't stand is when people like that Khalid Shaukat from moonsighting.com try to project their views on others by saying things like "of course the moon isn't visible at such and such a place..." Maybe he could be wrong? That is his opinion based upon theoretical research - not upon hard fact. Topography is different in each region. What if people in Africa did sight the moon on the 11th? It's possible since the moon would have been young but still quite probably visible. Anyway - like I said - islam allows for this freedom of thought outside the box. :)

Nation of Islam is a deviation of islam. Deviations aren't facet of Islam once they violate the principles/pillars. For illustration, like pronouncing you're a Muslim however you don't in Jesus or Muhammad or abraham - (noticed). Every nine/10 muslims are sunni (which means they comply with the quran and sunnah). Im now not pronouncing each different character except a sunni is a kafir, a few folks dont realize, a few folks have special ideals. Really you're simply drowning within the western tradition, I grew up in America and I went via the identical disorders and doubts, whilst you transfer to a Muslim neighborhood it is lovely, no embarrassment in praying in public, no rascism, you suppose dwelling to your middle. Try to hook up with your neighborhood. To reply your query if each faith is false and God does now not exist, why are we right here looking for our rationale in existence with our miracle intelligence, alternatively of being grey blogs and not using a soul and a mindful. There is a author, by no means lose religion in that.

    I essentially agree with Acid.

Sadly, its probably as they say: "A sign of the times"!!!

It is a reflection of the general disunity of the ummah.

We do need solutions and fast...

We need corrupt governments out and compassionate, spiritual and unworldy leader(s) in...who may have the spiritual and moral strength to pull the ummah together through convincing means....leading by example.

    Salam.

    I don't think it's a problem

to be different is OK as long as we can respect the others, and ummah should know why it can be different and follow what they believe.

My government tries to make it celebrated in the same day, but I can't follow it coz i am not sure with the way they use...

No other choice than celebrate it in different day, but I respect the differences

U r right i think we all should all celebrate eid with saudi arabia which is the best.I saw a discussion abt this on t.v but they didn't agree with that i don't kno y.

    ---------------------------

But the appearence of moon is also imp. 4 different regions.I think thats y they celebrate only when they saw it by thier own.

  • 1 decade ago

the days separate them.. like in asia we celebrate it on sat, on the other side of the world celebrated on fri cos the appearance of the moon is earlier there. So its still e same its all depend on whether has the moon appear yet on not.. different parts of the world has it day and night.

scholars try their best to get the accurate dates , i won't argue with them about it. some people are from sects so they follow a different calender although we live in the same area.

sister eid mubarak and i wish that was our only problem or our only difference.
