How Does the "Recall" Function Work on Microsoft Outlook?

I just made the biggest boo boo in the workplace! I wrote an annoyed email venting about someone, and then sent it to THEM accidentally! I recalled the message, but I have no idea if that means it will delete it or not... Please, someone put my mind at ease!!!

Update:

I know she hasn't read it yet because she's not at her desk - but I experimented with another coworker because I was freaking out, and every message that I recalled (read or unread) she was still able to see and I got a "recall failed" message once she actually did read it. Am I going to get the same message once this lady reads hers? At least I'll know when I need to crawl under my desk then! Crap!

Update 2:

Good news... maybe? I got a message from Outlook that said my recall was successful (almost 3 hours later!). Does that mean it deleted it?! She's acting normal around me so I don't think she got it - but I'm so paranoid now... serves me right I guess!

lol, HURRY. The Recall feature only sends a notice to "recall", or ignore that email. If the person has already read it, then your secret is out. If they haven't read it, you might get lucky, but they are going to see that you at least tried to email something.

I even have been having an analogous issue for the final 2 days as properly. in case you run this question by using Google, you will see many all human beings is having an analogous project, so ti must be something occurring @ Yahoo. i'm a top classification consumer and use the Plus settings. I even have rechecked my settings, re-entered the password, all to no avail. i attempted the default settings of one hundred ten/25 and mutually because it logged into the POP3 server in simple terms effective, i became into no longer able to effectively deliver e mail whilst employing the try Account Settings function. (widely used, my firewall is blocking off outbound 25) After 2-3 minutes of waiting for it to technique, i ended it and clicked the SSL button, which replaced it to 995/465. This time it failed in decrease than 30 seconds. I then replaced the SMTP port to 587 and it worked. For now. i will keep you published.

In my experience, the recall feature is very unreliable. Too many ways for it to break. Sorry to say, you should assume she will be able to read the email if she hasn't already.

The message will be removed from your co-workers inbox regardless, but if he/she already read the message... well then they read it!

Also, they could have printed it out OR they could have saved the message locally on their computer.

So to answer your question, yes the message will be removed from your coworkers Inbox... hopefully they didn't read it before you did the recall.

Only if you are both on the same mail server and the mail server supports it
