Why is Spy Sweeper not running on my computer?

Question

At the end of August I got a new HP laptop from best buy.  It has Windows Vista, Spy Sweeper and Trend Micro Anti-Virus on it.  I noticed last week that when I turned my computer on, a box pops up that says SS couldn't locate a valid definitions file.  Also,  I have an alert from SS saying that 4 of 4 critical shields are off.  I can't turn these shields on, and whenever I try to update the valid definitions file, it won't happen. 

I took my comp. to the Geek Squad at Best Buy (that's where I got it from), and they uninstalled then re-installed it.  The next day I noticed it still had the same problem.  

I'm not very technologically savvy, and I wanted to get some advice on here before I take it back to Best Buy.

As you  have already uninstalled and reinstalled spysweeper and it doesnt seems to  help. That probably is because of the  program validity. it might have expired.

There are other alternatives available for spyware programs.

try to download the following software and install. it works great for me.

Are you paying for your spysweeper updates/upgrades.   If you aren't.  that's part of the problem.    Spysweeper unfortunately like most any other place on the internet is a pay-per-service.   If you are.   Than there's something wrong with possibly the version you have.   Try & see if there's an upgrade that you can get.   Spysweepers website I believe is.  http://webroot.com   Hope that helps.

extremely likely because both programmes have genuine time computer screen units making demands of your gadget components. i'm no longer au fé with McAfee so i will concentration on Spysweeper. contained in the left hand menu, click on Shields; less than the living house windows gadget tab, attempt by technique of eliminating the tick adversarial to the memory shelter. I easily have this disabled on my pcs. See if this helps. also attempt the secret agent installation shelter and the secret agent verbal replace shelter. enable afterwards if it made no massive difference; in case you discover your computing gadget performance has more suitable, you should guage even if you may stay with out those more suitable safeguards. A slower computing gadget would properly be the price you should pay for a secure computing gadget.
