Does the human brain manufacture religous experience? (Scientific American article)?

I thought people of all persuasions might find this interesting. Your thoughts?

From the Oct 2007 edition of Scientific American:

"Searching for God in the Brain"

Researchers are unearthing the roots of religious feeling in the neural commotion that accompanies the spiritual epiphanies of nuns, Buddhists and other people of faith.

Update:

Chip Monk: the significance would be yet more distancing of natural explanations from supernatural explanations. Similar examples include the heliocentric model (instead of earth at the center), evolution (instead of divine origin of species), big bang (instead of divine origins of the universe), and other smaller examples. The point is that as scientific investigation continues, the more the world can be seen as only natural (with no supernatural elements needed).

Interesting, what would the true significance be ? A physical connection between body and soul ? Truly interesting.

Would it be less real if it did? Other than consciousness what is real? Isn't consusinous itslef malable to each of us? What do you choose to see that others do not? What if God and Spirit are of the mind - ideas and not the physical evidence that your small imanigation requires? Isn't "it" itslef malable to each of us?

    Adrenalin is a goofy cocktail.

It can make you yell your head off at a football game or bring you to tears in a church.
