How do I find a word or short phrase in a vast page of text without spending hours checking through it?

I'm sure this is an extremely simple one, just a matter of knowing what to search for in the first place to find software that will do this. All I keep getting is results for word search puzzles! Perhaps I already have something on my computer that will do this? I use XP

Type in your request and it will either highlight all revelant responses or go to them one at a time. You can move to each single search by pressing the F3 to move to the next search of the inquiry.
