Guitar Effects Pedal Info Please?
Hi Everyone,
Hopefully the collective wisdom of the forum can help me here-I'm a bass player & use a Trace Elliot GP7 SM 150 amp with a 2 x 12" cab, I don't use any effects pedals. I recently bought an old Gibson Explorer 6 string just to mess around on so what I would like to know is: what make & type of pedal would I need to buy to get that nice warm distortion crunch through my bass gear without spending a fortune?
I have done a bit of research, reading reviews & looking at the many tutorials on YouTube but the choice seems quite bewildering to someone not already fluent in such things. One pedal, the Boss DS1 keeps cropping up together with it's Keeley modification but several reviews say that it is outdated technology-is this true? Perhaps I need something other than a distortion altogether? To give an example of the sound & tone I'm looking for I would say that classic Gibson sound-Michael Schenker, Steve Jones, Thin Lizzy etc. Looking forward to hearing from you,
John.
7 AnswersPerforming Arts1 decade agoHow do I play 14GB of music on shuffle in my car?
I have a Kenwood KDC-W5541U CD-Reciever with a USB port in my car. I have 14GB [almost 4000 songs] in mp3 format on a 32GB flashdrive & want to listen to them on random play/shuffle. The flashdrive plugs into the USB port on my player fine but the problem is the receiver only sees the first few songs & constantly plays only these few on shuffle. I'm thinking there is far too much information on the flashdrive for the system to cope with so is there anything I can 'splice' in between the flashdrive & the CD player to make it more intelligent or do I need to install an mp3 player in my car & forget about trying to do this on a car stereo? There is nothing in the user manual to suggest a maximum amount of info which the player will deal with although I realise I am trying to play a vast amount of music! Any constructive suggestions would be most appreciated!

.....when you look at your 'Best Answer' notification & it's only chosen by voters rather than the person who asked it in the first place?
Because I'm not interested in points I take no pleasure from getting a best answer unless it was genuinely helping someone. I know the majority of times I answer someone & get a 'chosen by voters' response it almost certainly means the fish in question is already dead & the person who asked it has neither the interest or responsibility to follow anything through. I think this is a general reflection of how many people see fish as disposable, short term items rather than long-term pets. On the other hand it's very heart-warming to get a reply that says you helped someone & their fish. What do you think about this?

1 AnswerRock and Pop1 decade agoHow do I find a word or short phrase in a vast page of text without spending hours checking through it?
I'm sure this is an extremely simple one, just a matter of knowing what to search for in the first place to find software that will do this. All I keep getting is results for word search puzzles! Perhaps I already have something on my computer that will do this? I use XP
5 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoRemoving Uncorrect Words From Firefox Dictionary?
I run Firefox & have installed the English dictionary & enabled the spell checker. My problem is there are a few words that I have spelled incorrectly & by accident right-clicked & added it to the dictionary so every time I write these words the computer sees them as correct & doesn't advise me.
I have tried accessing the program files & changing the word in there as well as removing all my cookies & re-installing Firefox & the dictionary but to no avail.
I would like to know if when writing an erroneous word there is a right-click option to REMOVE it from the dictionary? Logic would suggest there must be as there is one to add it but this is not shown on the list of options when I do right click so perhaps logic has no place here? so can I wipe my computers memory of just these mis-spelled words & replace them with the correct versions?
I know this seems trivial but it is extremely annoying! Thanks for any help forthcoming.

In error I have entered a misspelled word as correct so now every time I misspell the same word the spell checker doesn't pick it up. How do I reset this word so it is once again recognised as incorrect?
This problem is common to both the spell-checker here on Yahoo! Answers & the optionally installed (English) dictionary on my Firefox browser.
