Beagles and Infants?
I'm thinking about getting a beagle puppy for my boyfriend and I. However, I'm pregnant. How do young and/or adult beagles interact with very young children?

Perfectly fine, so long as you introduce them right and teach each the right/wrong way to behave around each other. BUT you're pregnant right now, soon you will have an adorable baby who will take up all of your time and leave you desperate for sleep and with little energy to look after a small pup. I strongly suggest you wait until the baby is 3 months old at least before you get a puppy, then you can give all your attention to your baby at first, and then split it evenly when the puppy arrives.

Beagles are great dogs and can be wonderful wtih kids..
However you really need to think about this beyond wether or not they will get along.. Beagles are fairly high energy dogs. They need a good bit of exersize.. Being scent hounds they can take a long time to potty train sometimes. They also need training so they don't do things like jump up on you when your holding the baby or dash out the door the second it's open or steal food off your table. Simply put, they take a lot of time and effort.
Human babies also take a lot of time and effort. In the beginning they are extremly demanding and you'll be quite short on sleep for a while.. A half grown puppy and a new baby is often a very bad mix. Please consider either waiting until your baby is a bit older or at least rescuing an adult dog that will demand less of your time and energy. Another benefit to rescuing a dog is that you will be able to find out BEFORE you get the dog wether or not it gets along with babies/toddlers/kids in general.

Beagles are fine with children, as long as you make sure they don't get too excited. Beagles are good family dogs. But I would wait. A baby beagle can be quite a whiny little thing. Are you going to be able to devote enough time and energy to him right now? Maybe you could wait until the baby is several months old. Beagles really need a lot of attention. Obviously, a baby is going to keep you busy. And then, with new baby cries, do you want a whining puppy? But I would definitely recommend one in the future, as long as you give him exercise.

you should definetly get one! i have one now, and she is the most loving thing! she crawls up to me, and puts her head in my lap, and gives me tons of kisses. The one thing that is bad about a beagle, is when it gets of the house and runs away, it probably wont come back. i have lost my beagle tons of times, and i have sprinted to find her. She wont come back, because she is smelling something, and blocks everything out, except smell. What u have to do, is grab food and say, "COME AND GET IT" and she will hopefully come. With the baby, i wouldnt be worried at all. Beagles are very friendly dogs, who love humans, as well as food. and for the howling, my beagle dusnt bark that much. what is very cute, is when i cry one day, she starts howl-crying too. she is very sweet. i really think you should get one, but only after the baby is maybe a year old. have a new puppy and new baby, can be tiring. good luck, and congratulations!

Beagles are great kid dogs- we always had them when I was a kid. If the puppy is young and well socialized, then he should have no problem adjusting to a new baby, just as long as you are sure you can give both puppy and baby the attention they need. Too many people take on puppies and then have babies and decide it's too much work. If you're sure you have the time, finances, and patience to do both, go for it.

Absolutely, beagles are great family pets. I would not get a puppy though, it's going to be too much work for you guys to raise a puppy and a baby at the same time, and the puppy will be too hyper and untrained to interact safely with the baby. An adult beagle though would be wonderful for your family.
