Under the previous Clinton admin we enjoyed an enormous budget surplus, a great housing market, the lowest crime rate in decades and a thriving national economy. We also weren't hated around the world. And if anyone has divided this country, it's the current party in the White House.

The country hasn't got far to go. It doesn't matter at this point who is at the top, what matters is how educated and informed the people are. And most are illiterate. sad but true. So to divide and conquer is quite easily done, or has already been done.
