2000 Dodge Ram 1500??

I recently replaced a clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and slave cylinder. When i picked up the truck, mechanic said was stiff switching gears and should loosen up. The gear shift is still being thrown out of first, the clutch pedal pushes all the way to the floor and the truck continues to move as if in gear, and the gear shift is very very hard to put into gear. Also, the mechanic said that i would have to pump the clutch several times to prime the system (which doesn't seem to help with the gear shifting). There is no friction or hesitation at all when i press the clutch pedal to the floor (much like a mushy brake pedal) although the clutch rises back on its own. Any ideas or suggestions (other than a new mechanic, lol)?

    maybe a new car??? lol

sorry to hear about your issues, my brother has a 2000 dodge ram 1500 with the magnum v8 and 2wd.

he purchased the trunk brand new and it now has about 48,000 miles on it. he doesnt have any problems at all?

why don you try going to the dodge dealership for your service? the dealership will have the best mechanics with the best equipment and because they are trained on your vehicle they will probably be able to fix it for sure.

    good luck .

sounds like it needs to be looked at again, when my dakota was kicking out of gear and hard to switch i got a new transmission which fixed it, sounds like a trans complaint more than a clutch and in all the years ive worked here i have never heard of priming the clutch , better get the trans checked by someone that knows what they are doing

You know, I have been a mechanic for over 35 years, and this is just the kind of thing that makes my blood boil !! This fool you took your truck to, is a complete %&*#%&*. And if you do not report this idiot, then it is all on you. Please , take your truck back, and demand a refund or call the cops, even the cops will know this is a snow job!!!!!!!

I would take it back and have them repair it properly. I would also tell them if they cant do that, you will consult a lawyer. There is no clutch system out there that you should have to pump to make it work properly.

sounds like they either put the pressure plate on backwards or forgot to put he shims back in or replaced them also they need to prime the system so they could pull it out of the shop so they are yanking your chain
