what are the different jobs pilots can do for the airforce?

im looking into the air force for after high school and ive become rather interested in being a pilot, esp. i can do that as a civilian as well, but i dont know what exactly i can do as a pilot in the air force, if you have any experience please let me know! I like to know from the people that are actually pilots themselves

I just want to know what all i can do :) and what the 'technical term' for that specific career is :) So i can find more info on the website about it :)

oh! and if i can do the same thing out of the military

thanks for all answers!

Update:

i dont want to talk to any recruiters though, b/c i dont want to be talked into meeting their recruiting needs in that area, i mean.. they get paid for that, its their job to get people into the area in which we need more people - right?

i dont know, my judgment may be a little biased b/c of what my dad has told me about recruiters ((he is retired from the military))

Good that you are looking into serving. Something to know right off though is that you have to be an Officer in the Air Force to be a pilot or a navigator. This is very basic about the differences: http://www.todaysmilitary.com/app/tm/careers/enlvs...

As an Officer you will need to pass several batteries of medial exams to determine if you are able to be a pilot and what type of airframe you could operate. regardless of whether you're going to fly a fighter or a transport you will learn on the same training craft and you will become certified to fly they basic planes. This along with your flight hours will help you land a job later on. If you don't plan on getting your degree before you join (and you really should....the quality of life is better) there are several flight support jobs you can land as an enlisted Airman, but none where you pilot the airframe. Your best option if you want to fly and get certified for a civilian job afterwards but don't want to go through college or a candidate school first is the US Army Warrant Officer pilot program. You will be taught how to fly helicopters and will be paid better than all of the enlisted soldiers. If you are drawn to the Air Force because you want to really be a pilot, I recommend you start thinking about ROTC and going to college. Otherwise look into the Army program, you will be glad you did.

Pilots in the Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps are all Officers. They must have a technical Bachelors degree (Engineering, Physics, Math) before they will allow you into pilot training.

You can enlist out of High School and work on a degree then become an officer and try out for pilot training then.

Hate to declare it, yet somewhat enlisting could no longer assist you in case you opt to be a pilot. Pilots are officers and officers bypass by way of college. in case you bypass by way of your enlisted dedication (~4 years) and then bypass to college ROTC (4 years), and then value, you would be kinda previous for pilot's training (2 years). to no longer say they gained't permit you in, besides the shown fact that it is going to likely be harder. on the earliest, you would be 28 earlier you initiate your desired 10 300 and sixty 5 days dedication as a pilot. greater realistically 30. you may get a school degree concurrently with serving your enlisted term, yet do no longer anticipate that to artwork the form you pick it to. First, you will basically be waiting to take online classes, and those, on a similar time as standard and not formally appeared down on, are not the comparable form of faculty that officer training college is ideally finding for. OTS is, of direction, very aggressive and you'd be wanting to sidestep issues that suitable away make you much less aggressive. 2nd, there is an exceedingly small danger of you unquestionably ending your online classes interior the timeframe you pick. you will set up, or get too busy with artwork... some thing will continually arise making it harder to bypass to college, and you're able to't permit your artwork go through, because of the fact this is not an determination. college will continually go through if given the "the two/or" scenario. I propose finding the closest college with ROTC and chatting with them. they're going to allow you realize in case you have a gamble of becoming pilot (there are a number of stuff to sidestep an user-friendly guy or woman from starting to be one). if so, then refer to them approximately how a lot of a scholarship they might furnish. Then persist with for admittance into the school, and get some pupil loans. believe me, as i'm speaking from very own adventure in this... as quickly as you value, you would be waiting to repay those loans. yet while there are circumstances that i do no longer understand approximately and you're able to enlist suitable now, the mechanic won't unquestionably get you on a airplane in any respect, (and to be hassle-free, there is extremely a "flyers v. maintenance" attitude) so Loadmaster could be greater useful. It won't harm, besides the shown fact that it won't assist you develop right into a pilot.

Talk to a Recruiter. They have all the current MOS's available.
