How do I get my dog to stop barking at people and other dogs??
I've tryed everything I have a Pomeranian and she barks at other dogs, people, and everytime the doorbell rings. It's so embarassing I cant take her anywhere. I've tried spraying her with water, telling her no, and even though I didnt want to I've looked for a shock collar, but she's so small that they dont make one that's safe enough for her, what do I do???

All of the things you have tried have involved some sort of punishment or negative reinforcement. And they have failed. Now try positive reinforcement. See links for help - especially the one about manic alert barking. and good luck. And, basic obedience will also work wonders.

I don't know about specific breeds, I'd research it on the net if I were you. The reason I say this is: I took my lab/mix to the vet for a medical problem, while there I asked about his hysterical barking at bikes and passerbys infront of our house. He also gets tremendously scared when it thunders or the smoke alarm goes off.
The vet said he had phobias The assistant printed out several things from the internet for me to read. It seems he has phobias. I really think the lab part of my dog is trying to be protective when people pass by the house. The other issues are fears though.
I still have to thoroughly read these pages, but from what I've read, if it is a fear issue, dogs can show behaviors such as avoiding eye contact, urinating, defacating, BARKING, growling, trying to escape, salivating, and destruction.
I understand the embarrassment this causes; it's like people think we don't know how to control our dogs. These printouts helped me alot. There is one called :
"Calming the Fearful Dog" it is in the Behavior Series at
www.petsforlife.org
I'm sure in this Behavior Series at this website you could find something specific to just barking, if yours is not due to a phobia. Good luck! They may have it specifc to dog breeds.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://tr.im/OlhCJ
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Oh boy, we used to have a Pomeranian and we ended up finding another home for him because he barked so much (and bit). I'd try watching "The Dog Whisperer" and getting some tips from it.

Try obedience training, it may not solve the problem directly, but it will teach the dog to listen and obey you, which will help when telling it no. Training would also help to socialize the dog to other dogs and people.

The more you socialize your dog the less nervous he will be around other people and other animals. So, as frustrating as it is, expose him to social situations as often as possible. Have people give him treats when he greets them nicely.
