I've read it, and i personally like it but i don't know if it adds much to the teachings of christianity
It also contrasts some of the catholic principles and so on, as it is the original orthadox source.
I liked it because it explains all about heaven and the angels and it also really helps show the links between islam and christianity as both the religions take different aspects of Enoch and use them
thanks
EDIT: boilerma - it wasn't included in the bible as the catholic church decided what went in and didn't. Enoch was the grandfather of Noah, and was taken to heaven in a vision where he saw the legions etc. It's pretty interesting if you are interested in the background mythology of christianity. In general Christianity has so much interesting mythology context its a shame more people don't know about it. It is just as rich as the greek mythology!

Yes. I've read it. I believe it. The only reason I believe it is because it is mentioned in the Holy Bible, and is even quoted in Jude.
"Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, PHROPHESIED about these men also, saying, 'Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him."
Why would Jude quote from Enoch? Perhaps because it was an accepted scripture at the time? I've read Enoch, and have found nothing that contradicts the Holy Bible itself. Nothing.
I believe Enoch is also mentioned in Hebrews 11:5.
I believe the Bible to be the truth, and if it quotes Enoch, then Enoch must also be the truth. But, that is the only one I believe to be. I don't believe in the "Gospel" of Thomas, or the "Gospel" of Judas, etc. They aren't even mentioned in the Bible as being scriptural. Amen?
Edit-- It is referred to and QUOTED in the Holy Bible, people. So, if you say it is a myth, then you are saying that part of the Bible is a myth also.

I have read the book and found it interesting but seemed to have some obvious math issues in speaking to days in a year (360 rather than 365.25 as we now know) I think the real problem is whether what we have now is actually the book of Enoch that was quoted in the new testament. I have to trust God that just as He inspired those who wrote the books of the bible, He also inspired those who selected what books make up the bible.

Enoch is not the writer of the “Book of Enoch.” This is an uninspired, apocryphal book written many centuries later, probably sometime during the second and first centuries B.C.E.
If I refuse to read the Quran which I personally find in some parts Diabolical...what do you think the chances of me reading this book?

It should be part of the Bible, inspired of God, written by Enoch, and supressed by the Church, It is equal with the bible, Jude quotes the end of chapter one/Chapter two depending which ch divisions you are using for enoch in Jude 13-14

There is no book in the Bible named Enoch. He was a grandson of Adam, a man that walked with God and one day was not. Meaning that God took him to Heaven while he was still alive.

Not much - I think the only valuable thing in it was used by Jude..... I read it years ago. It is interesting to describe the angellic beings, Azazel....

About as much use as a chocolate tea-cup.
Read it? Whats the point? Its been translated, translated again, altered, transcripted, edited and rehashed.
