Guitar chord progression ideas?
Can you suggest some chord progressions to make a melody for a song? Any jumble of chords would be appreciated. The best one gets the ten. Thanks and good luck!

Try G, Em, C , D or G, C, Em, D - vary them with Gsus4 and Dsus2 or C2 and they possibilities are endless...
I also like E, B, A and C#m or G#m in any order - just play around until you find what you like

I'll throw you the over-used and common ones. I like them - they're overused for a reason.
C G Amin F
Dmin Bb F C
Cmin Bb Ab Bb
etc.
Most variations of the above patterns will work - swap the order round, and stuff.
(The little b is my poor denotation of a flat)
EDIT: How long do you want the prog to be? I mean, the music I write only ever needs 4 chord progressions, but if you're writing something a little more.. complicated, you might want something more interesting - pop-punk doesn't require chordal finesse..

You pretty much answered your own question. Get a cheap cassette player and record the chords. Then play them back and you can practice your leads over them.
