Some humour can be taken the wrong way so if say someone gives miserable answers to maybe 5 questions in a row then yes give them a big black cross!

Ignore them. F'em if they can't take a joke. I don't know about the black crosses, though. Somebody is bound to be offended.

possibly, that way we know they have a habit of giving terrible answers just like a top contributor probably gives a lot of good answers.
