Im 14 working on a book, does anyone know publishing companies that will publish me?
Any way like I said I'm 14 and I've been working on this book, it's about 430 pages handwritten right now, so I still need to type it up but does anyone know any companies that will publish my work if it's up to standard? Most that I've looked at only take submissions from adults. With a bit of time and work I think my book would be good enough to make the cut, if there are any companies that are willing to work with younger authors to help them improve tell me please! Thanks so much everyone! Xoxo <3

LIE. most places won't meet with you directly, mostly by email, or letters, or phone. if you must, have a stand-in for your voice on the phone. avoid answering your age as much as possible (just write your birthday, not your year). if they persist on getting your age, say 18. once they actually agree to publish and ask for all your tax information, then tell them that you are 14. at that point, they can't say no, and you can say "ask my lawyer if you are discriminating me based on age"

First of all, you are only 14 (I'm 15). It will be rare for your work to be published because you are so young. Try writing the book first. After writing the novel, don't think that it's amazing. Chances are that it's going to be crap ( don't worry, a lot of my writing it crap, well nearly all of it is). Which is why something amazing and magical exists: editing.
Edit your novel until it's flawless. Editing will play a huge part on making your novel publishable. Don't assume that you only need to edit it once. Edit it atleast twice.
Second, a publisher will NOT look at your work unless you have an agent. An agent will be able to get your work noticed.
Another point is that you are under 18. I know in the UK that you have to be 18+ to be able to publish your work legally but I don't know about other countries. Try working on your novel for about two more years. That should be more than enough time to make your work a piece of beauty.
I'm not kidding. Spend as much time as you can on your novel.
I'm 15 right now and I'm working on a novel. I'm only going to work on my novel for atleast a good two years until I try to get an agent interested.
A very good piece of advice is to make the novel a stand alone novel. Even though publishers are looking for the next Harry Potter, don't make the novel a series. If you want the novel to be a series then write the novel but leave a few loose ends so you can make it into a series. Hopefully, when you get the book published and becomes a bestsellar, tell the publisher or agent that you can make it into a series if they want it to be a series. Trust me, JK Rowling did this. She never actually told Bloomsbury or her agent that Harry Potter was a series. AFTER the book was accepted and in print, available in many bookstores in the UK, she then asked her agent and publisher what they thought about a series!
The Writer's and Artist's Yearbook is really useful.
Good luck with your novel!

Yes, all of us teenage writers have to find some agent who veiws the material as worthwhile. That's the key to publishing, an agent. No company looks at a book without an agent as a middleman.

Good for you on that book! Most companies probably won't take you, but keep trying to send in your story. Even JK Rowling got rejected 10's of times and look what happened to her! I would recommend Scholastic, they usually publish kids books. Or schoolhouse books. Good luck with your dream.

well it depends on the genre of the book and whether or not the publisher will think it will be successful in a particular age group or region. I think that if it is a true gem (which im sure it is) then they will take it regardless of your age

Try having a parent or agent call some places, if you have a good agent you will most likely get a booking. best of luck!
