How to set up remote desktop connection?
I have a laptop and a PC. I wanted to able to access the laptop through my PC with Remote Desktop Connection.
How do I set up the laptop? The laptop doesn't have a username and password. It just enter the windows everytime I turned it on.
We're connected through Ethernet Switch.
My Cousin brought his laptop to my house and can access his laptop from my PC.
I'm asking these questions because my cousin is currently overseas and it took as long as hell for him to reply my e-mail.

Yes, I do have a router.
The router is used to split the internet cable. One to the laptop and the other to the PC.

You could also use a product called WinVNC, which is also free, if you don't have xp pro on both machines.

On the laptop (if it has XP Pro)
Control Panel -> System ->Remote Tab ->Allow users to connect remotely
Control Panel -> System ->Remote Tab ->Select Remote Users
(if the control panel does not show the system icon, click on the 'switch to classic view' link in the top left corner ofthe control panel page)

Logmein is very easy & its completely free. Try that. It also encrypts ur connection, so better security.

first of all - you need xp professional - rdp is not available in XP home. this website should give you all the info you need to set it up from there.

if you don't have professional on both computers, you can also get it done aby going to logmein.com and download their free software, which works on any version of windows.
