Is there such a thing as a exhaust strap?

My other half changed my cacalytic converter on my peugeot 306, now when i pull away it bangs against something,he said he's tightened the bolts as tight as he can but i'm puzzled about the banging!

Yes, they are usually rubber bands that hold the exhaust in place on the joists.

Sounds as though the cat is not quite in the right place and needs adjusting.

Yes exhaust straps are used to support exhausts--more rubber ring type these days. You may have one missing but more than likely the exhaust your other half fitted needs turning to stop the rear section hitting the body or something

They have not done a good job. There are elastic mounts and if the size is not correct the exhaust will bang.

Sounds like when he fitted the cat he had it to far forward or to far backwards. He needs to loosen the claps and re-position it.

the strap is the metal bar that is wired to the frame to support the unit.
