Are the McCanns trying to control the media when other tragedies strike?

The McCanns state there will be no further interviews, statements or any other form of communications about them or Madeleine.

Suddenly tragedy strikes - horrific events in Spain and Portugal, it also happened months ago with the floods and recently the Rhys Jones killing and we have a high influx of McCann related items.

The photo description of the discredited Jane Tanner to me beats them all!

This looks like possibly what Jane Tanner thinks of men - cream slacks and greasy hair. Or was she looking at herself. What do you think?

Update:

Resigned, it does not bother me at all. I want to see this pair of neglectful and irresponsible parents jailed for putting their children at risk! As for the McCanns strategy they must do well to remember that they are suspects of killing their daughter either accidental or murder!

Update 2:

Michael W, I am glad you like the cream slacks. No I am no expert on criminology. With this sad case, I have learned a lot. The McCanns are doing themselves no favours!

The only 'interviews' the Mccann's ever did give were the ones in which they were briefed beforehand on what would be asked during the interview. In my opinion, that is not an interview. They have said basically nothing different than their first 'interview'.....and say it's because of the 'secrecy laws'....! They still have a couple of newspapers and news channels kissing their butts but compared to the 4th may and today alot of people have chnaged their minds about the Mccann's....and no surprise there.

No, Their pathetic, do-gooder PR people and backers (inc.Richard Branson) are and I think it's great!!

The McCanns are as guilty as hell. They no doubt had an idea of how long they would have to hold out until the media circus left town and they probably had a timescale for getting away with it. So far it's been much longer and more high profile than any 'missing' child case, which let's not forget it is, and they must be mortified.

Keep Dragging them out, Interview after Interview, give them no peace until they crack and confess. If they did it (and it looks like they did) they should not be allowed to rest, rehabilitate and forget, They must just be hoping we all forget very, very soon.

    Let's not eh?

Initially the portuguese police spent a great deal of time investigating the abduction theory, they appear to have concentrated on this theory without really considering that the parents may have had something to do with maddeline's disappearance. During that time, there was no ful detail of a description of the abductor from the supposed witness Jane Tanner. Now that the police, with British support have more or less discounted the abduction theory, the family produce, without police agreement it seems, a vague but emotive picture of the memory of Jane Tanner. Why would that be I wonder? The description still has no face to identify him or her but the details of the child's pajamas are very detailed. The child is sleeping (or dead) and not struggling, screaming or crying. No one else appears to have seen the person, the person has vanished if he or she ever existed. I feel very angry and suspicious about the timing of the phone line and 'photo fit' of the supposed abductor. A disgrace.

Exactly the point I have been reported for like 8 times within 2 days

There are much bigger problems in the world than 1 girl missing.

Such as poverty in Africa. All the money raised should be sent to a worthwhile charity and not to the McCanns as that could save hundreds of lifes.

    Yes, you're right.

Nearly every piece of terribly sad news that we've had in the news seems to be tagged along with something of the McCanns.

You could say that they're trying to keep the spotlight on Madeleine, but I agree with MoLu above - it is something more.

There latest interview for Spanish TV was all about them. No message for Madeleine or appeal to the abductor. It all seems to be about them and their desire to save their own sorry hides. They have excuses for everything and instead of staunchly refuting the rumours that are being bandied about they have come up with feeble reasons to excuse themselves.

If it was your daughter, don't you think you'd be grasping every opportunity throught the media to let her know that you were still there and that you were going to FIND her and bring her home? I wouldn't give a flying **** about what people thought about me or my reputation - my daughter would be foremost in my mind.

Yes I think they are. I think they have something to do with their daughter's disappearance. I would be surprise if they have Munchhausen syndrome. Because the way they have been courting the media makes me wonder. And don't say it's because they are trying to find their daughter, no this is more than that. They know what has happened to their daughter, it's the Munchhausen syndrome kicking in. It's just as you said they will draw they attention back to themselves if they feel it is straying. I hope someone is keeping an eye on their two other children.

You know,I am sure this is right.when I saw it on the front of the newspaper as headlines.

Then inside was the horrific accident of those two poor little boys who had got lost.

It sickened me. How can a newspaper editor get it so wrong

Is that what Swingers look like? Greasy haired men in white slacks?

I was thinking the same thing last night. I do feel they are very media hungry and cannot bear the fact that there are other more noteworthy tragedies gong on in the news. Those people no longer know when they are not wanted.Talk about outstaying their welcome!

Seems to be a pattern emerging.
