Dog life placed above human life?

Hi!

How many would say they value a dogs life over a humans life?

Like who would you rather have living, some random Canadian, or your dog?

I'm being serious. If you seriously had to choose.

If it's a random dog and a random human being, I go with the human being. If it's MY dog versus a random Canadian, then I go with MY dog. No offense intended to Canadians, and nationality does not matter. My dog is part of the family and my wife, daughter and I would be devastated if something were to happen to her. Yes, I'm selfish on this. Sorry.

If you are saying 'a random dog vs a random human', I'd have to choose a human. After all, they're supposed to be the same species as me, and we should all hang together, right?

If you're saying my personal favorite animal vs Ted Bundy or someone of his ilk, I'd take the dog any time.

Please realize, this answer comes from a dog rescuer, and I'd ask a whole lot of questions before I chose against the dog to begin with. I've seen too much ugliness by people against animals to be able to make a truly snap decision in favor of humans.

In the Katrina debacle, they had the right idea in that they tried to save the humans first. Then they seemed to forget about the dogs, who then formed roving packs, which were very dangerous. By the time animal rescuers were allowed on site, many dogs were sick and/or severely injured, or so frightened we couldn't approach them. That, I think, was very poor planning on someone's part. Once the people were safe, it became incumbent on Someone to look after the companion animals, and the step up was slow and insufficient. Very sad.

I always say I that I prefer dogs to most people. I stick to this opinion. To paraphrase something I've said on YA before: If faced with the decision to either rid the world of humans or rid the world of dogs, the humans would be gone within moments.

So when it comes down to "some random Canadian" or both of my dogs, it would definitely be both of my dogs. I would definitely pick my own dogs over someone I don't know. Just please don't ask me to choose between my human family and my dogs- because my dogs are my family too.

I would choose the persons life. You can always replace a dog you know it won't be the same but you can get on thats similar but you can't replace a human. I live on a horse farm where my family loves and values our horses but if something happened between a animals life and a human life, I'd choose the human.

All life is important and I'm not a 'people-person', but I would chose the human in nearly all cases. Living isn't just an instinct to us...there's so much more to it. For instance, we dream, have responsibilities, etc. Plus, death is hardest on the survivors...the loss of the human would affect so many others and in more serious ways. I love my pets, but sparing one of them and taking a child from a parent (or vice versa) doesn't sit well with me. Everything dies anyhow, it's not like my pet is going to live forever. That said, I have chosen my pets over people in non-life/death ways. A boyfriend suddenly said 'dog or him'...dog won.

My dog. I dont know any random Canadians - so what would that matter to me?

I like dogs more than most of the people i meet anyways.

  • If it's a question of a stranger or MY dog, then MY dog wins. I have an obligation to her and she is wholly dependent on me. The stranger has other options - my dog doesn't.

If it's a question of a murderer or a stray dog, the stray dog wins. Sorry, I don't have a lot of sympathy for murderers.

That's why I donate more money and goods to animal charities than to people charities. Companion animals are dependent on us.

WOW, ever the wrong thing to say.

First off I am a breeder of quality dogs.

Secondly, I am Canadian, so blow it out your pie hole!!!!!!!!!!

Jeeeeez, get a life before asking something stupid like that.

I guess it depends on the person and depends on the dog. I know some people I wouldn't spit on if they were on fire. They are scum bags. I know some dogs that are worth 10 of them.

Then my family, it's hard cause my dogs are my family. I love my dogs but don't you go messing with my family.

I would chose my dogs all the time, in fact I did when I left my abusive husband. They don't cheat, lie, talk about you, make life hard, never get cross, always pleased to see you. need I go on.
