JRT weird potty accidents?

so, Pumpkin, my 5 year old JRT is just a weird dog... he's kind of nuts. He has a number of weird things that he does- if he hears a noise, he'll bark but won't stop when the noise is gone... he'll continue to bark until I redirect his attention. He also has some guarding issues- usually random things that he won't give up unless, again, I redirect his focus on something more interesting... he's a very intense little dog... So, I say all of that to give you some idea of his craziness... (he IS a JRT)

Anyway... his latest thing is that if I'm in another room and he can't come with me, he poops in the house. Last night I took him out and he went just fine, I came back in and left him in the living room while I went in my bed room and closed the door... I came back out 15 or so minutes later and he had pooped on the floor (he'd just gone 20 minutes ago!!)

Occasionally he has an accident while I'm at work (maybe once or twice a month) but I'm pretty sure it's because I'm late coming h

Update:

Occasionally he has an accident while I'm at work (maybe once or twice a month) but I'm pretty sure it's because I'm late coming home or he didnt' go in the morning.

I've tried kenneling him... he just goes potty in the kennel, every time.

Treats don't distract him enough, either...

Any other suggestions?~ Thanks guys!! :-)

here he is

wow....sounds like a great dog, i bet he is soo much fun!!!

I think terriers are very crazy anyway, they are known to be very mad but it does seem very strange that he only poops when you don't let him in the same room....

i think it might be like withdrawal symptoms (kinda) because he is not with you. He knows if he does that you will come back in...try talking to trainers about it and see whether there are any alternatives. It seems he has like an OCD with keeping things in schedule so i would talk to a proffessional about that. im sorry there isn't much i can say to help but i just hope you enjoy the time you have with the gorgeous pup..

he is punishing you for not being with him when he wants you.he is your buddy and thats it. other than the kennel and making sure he has done his job outdoors you can try giving him something with your scent on it like a sweater ot blanket that will comfort him when you are away. his attention span is every where so it might take time. give him lots of toys and raw hides so he can snuggle on your sweater and chew them. maybe it will keep him busy. good luck.
