Do you believe workchoices has gone as far as it will go?

With Howard's idea of paying teachers by results is that an indication of where he wants to go with the rest of us

Ohh patrick p....in an ideal world your concept has some merrit. However in an ideal world we would never had needed unions in the first place because employers would have done the right thing bt its workers. If people keep bringing up Labors past as a reason not to vote them in, then look at businesses past as a reson not to bring in workchoices.

The fact is many many workers are going to get ripped off. For example, what happens in a male dominated industry if a female makes waves by claiming sexual harrassment. She cannot be fired on descrimmination grounds, but I bet the next time her contract is up, bye bye lady and with no union protection she will be on her own. How many women are going to exploited, sexually harassed, assaulted etc and have there contact held against them is they say anything.

It is going to open up a Pandora's Box of problems. What about low skilled, low educated, disabled, mentally iIl, young people that are going to be completly exploited by these laws, as corupt employers will fire them and hire the next bloke with no protection.

You can guarantee one thing...any Liberal government will not be there to help you!!!

Everytime you get a pay rise through the Industrial Relations court, John Howard argues why you shouldn't get it. This a provable fact. The unions fight like crazy against the liberals to get a pay rise. The chairman listens to both sides and decides if you get one or not. That will not happen under workchoices. Living costs go up, you can guarantee you will not get a pay rise!!

    Well put question ,

But lets take it a little further ok, Under Howards underpaid educations system over the last 11 years is a joke , and it is backfiring on him as of today, he has admitted that he , I mention he had gooten it wrong on Education because of the way Labour had Education setup, so Howard got rid of them one by one.So what a bloody big stuff up on him, well look at what a teacher had to go through with trying to get a better qualification to teach when their lively hood was being eroded by this &&&**^%%^&*%^ liar , I was not the teachers fault, it was Howards fault completely about this, a teacher can only teach to the best of their ability, and that is not their fault. If all the money that Howard is spending now , and not before, Howard is telling more lies , because he will not be around , he'll be probaly under the weather full of ^%&$%%^& bull *&^^%% it.

On Workchoices if Howard gets back in Costello & Minchin have more bad news for Australian , and they are not playing their cards untill they can ( GOD help Australia if They Do ) more working conditions will disappear from all workers, even the states will be even able to halt them.Make you vote count get rid of Howard' Liberal Party, and Get Rid of Minchin from the Senate as none of the Labour Party laws will get through senate Minchin will see to that.

Basing teachers' pay levels on the results of the students in their schools is flawed and ineffective and is just a political attempt to distract voters from concerns about public education under-funding.

What teacher with a family and a mortgage in their right mind is going to want to teach in a school in a disadvantaged socio economic area where the students are poor performers if it means they'll have to suffer lower pay along with all the other stress of working in tough schools? And can you imagine the pressure put on teachers to fudge student results and turn a blind eye to plagiarism and cheating so they can get the results to get paid properly? That kind of pressure can only lead to a shortage of teachers where they are needed badly and erosion of our standards of education.

Teachers just want to teach - not babysit and do excessive admin - and should be paid well for their expertise and invaluable contribution to society. It's up to the parents to make sure their kids do their homework and have the manners to shut up and listen in class so they can get high marks.

Howard does not have a clue about the real world we live in.

No way. If Howard is re-elected and wins control of the Senate again. He will try and finish off the Unions and try and shaft us further. Howard is a Big "L" liberal and always has been.

No not if John Howard or Peter Costello have anything to do with it. Remember this policy was kept under raps on lead up to the last elections. What other surprises are now under raps if they return to power?

  • 1 decade ago

It depends on the Elections. If Mr. Sheen gets back in again, God only knows what He has up his dirty sleeve. Then if Rudd gets in, He will change them for the better. Let's hope Rudd gets into power. Remember Mr Sheen with his 'Core' and 'Non Core' Promises? No GST, Wheat Board etc. Go Kev O sev.

What is wrong with that. Collective bargaining looks after the slackers in the system. Work Chices allows people to get paid what they are worth! Some people are worth more than others, Thats a fact if you work in retail you get paid as much as the least productive person is worth. If thats not you then you are missing out?

Employers will next get rid of an employee that is making them money
