Anyone else in the UK think the Freeview channels are rubbish?
I keep watching Top Gear. I'm watching it on a channel called Dave now. I suppose, they bought repeats off the BBC. I paid for those by paying my TV licence - six months in advance! When analogue gets switched off - there could be more Freeview channels - will that be more rubbish? Why is ITV3 on 2 channels? Channel 800 and channel 10! The latter keeps losing it's signal!
Bluebell - it's not your aerial. I had to fit an attentuator to my aerial to reduce the signal - I was picking up too many transmitters. I also plug a DVB tuner into my laptop to watch the odd movie on Film 4 in bed. The aerial for that is an indoor aerial on top of my wardrobe. Reception isn't a problem if you're in range of a transmitter. It's the idiots running the whole thing that is the problem. Who calls a channel DAVE!
Great answers. Peter B - I wondered about UK history - Top Gear on UK history? Jeremy Clarkson isn't that old! LOL
Be sure not to miss episode 2 of Fanny Hill! We pay for drama with our TV licences - can't afford to miss one. Last week was quite good.

Well Mike, believe it or not hubby and I went out today and bought a cheap freeview box from Tesco only to find we can't get a signal. We were then told we need a booster box without any guarantee it will work as it could be our aerial! What do we do now, waste more money on a booster box or forget the whole thing - probably the latter if you are saying the channels are rubbish!

I find that most of the Freeview channels are either crap looped repeats, or those ludicrous shopping channels which are really not much better than those dodgy auctions that appear in markets and high st shops around the country. In addition there are of course numerous radio stations as well, which really seems a bit pointless. But I guess they're all part of the overall con, which is to delude us into thinking that digital T^V is supposed to be for pour benefit.
By the way, for those asking about UK TV History. On my TV it is now appearing on channel 19 for some reason or another. I don't recall any mention that this was going to happen (which I guess sort of indicates the level of regard the TV companies have for their viewers). The problem now is that UK TV History appears to be on at some odd times during the day now.
As for the new wonder station 'DAVE', well what the devil is that all about. Did the programming exec's go on a bender before they came up with that idea?
Total garbage!

What is the deal with that Dave channel? It confused the heck out of me when I first saw the ads for it.
I think the freeview channels aren't great, but for a one off payment they're okay. The only problem I have is that the signal can sometimes freak out and then you're worse off than when you had analogue.
I think ITV3 is moving from channel 10 to 800 permanently which might explain the bad signal on 10.

Yes, but then again they are free. Nothing that is free is ever great, you have to pay for quality.
I guess the answer is, when analogue is switched off, just watch BBC1 and BBC1 and the other three channels ITV 1, channel 4 and channel 5 and skip the extra channels.
I find some of them hand for things I've missed though, as they tend to be repeated every night for a week after they are shown on the analogue channels.

BBC4 is good and Film4 occasionally shows some decent films, but otherwise I think I agree with you. Lots of repeats. Dave seems to have better repeats than some, but still stuff that's been on the BBC before. The much hyped Virgin1 is pretty rubbish at the moment too.

yes it is driving me nuts - I don't see why I should be forced to fork out more to buy sky, and i get really angry that they steal all the best programes (lost, prisonbreak).
where is uktvhistory, it has been replaced by dave, which is ok as it shows a lot of top gear and buzzcocks, but they are all repeats. the fims are on a constant loop on itv3 too.
crap. i think rather than invest in sky i shall just dump the tv and get some good books!

Yes of course they are.....one constant repeat....have you not noticed....and things will get worse. The Govt. and media think that we no longer want to watch TV in the traditional sense and want to watch online, or on the phone, well they are wrong...people want good programmes that is all, not repeats....so why not reduce the amount of rubbish, and go back to less channels, but good ones....I don't need 600 crap ones, I much preferred two or three good ones....and I am happy to watch them on a TV at home, rather than on a computer, on my phone or any other device they can think of.

Tell me about it!
We need some decent channels on our boxes, not some weird channel called dave :S
Just cause we dont fork out the price for sky, doesn't mean we have to watch rubbish!
