Atheist liberal having problems finding women?

Am I asking too much here? How do I get a girl with the same interests, would this turn you off on a personals page?

Looking for a girl that is ok with politics, the largest turn off for every woman according to the Plenty Of Fish site. I am a Richard Dawkins, Carl Sagan, and Julia Sweney fan. I am extremely liberal and obviously secular, AKA atheist. This is obviously like looking for a needle in a haystack. Am a peace activist supporting Dennis Kucinich at the primary caucuses.

Now that I have scared most of you away with my progressive political ideology, we can get to the basics. I am a humorous college student studying in the social services area. I am physically fit, looking for someone that wants to cycle the Palouse across the rolling wheat fields for long distances. I trade equities on the open market, meaning I watch CNBC and check data daily. Looking for someone that speaks their mind on issues, doesn't hold back. This is a democratic country you know, not a fascist regime, even though it appears that way some times.

Now that we got all that squared away, there is one more thing about me that might not fit the normal criteria for the age range and ideology. I only drink one to two times a year. I don't smoke cigs, no weed for me. Is there anyone left in this area, or do I have to move to a more progressive city? I'll just keep posting until the one in a million comes a knocking.

Don't cave and date a believer. Worst mistake of my life. They operate from a fundamentally different epistomology than we do. They think, "if I can make myself believe it, it's true". Stay away from anybody with sufficient smarts to know santa claus is a fraud but still believes in their god; they're totally delusional and will screw up your life.

It sounds like you are have an overemphasis on politics in your relationships, I'm have similar politics as you and also a nonchristian, but I've have had plenty of girlfriends that I got along with fine despite the fact that politically and religiously we were complete opposites. There is nothing wrong with political discussion, just don't dwell upon it, a good relationship needs to be multidimensional.

Also, wouldn't this question be better suited to the single/dating forum?

Just keep being yourself.... I'm sure some woman will come along.. if you are a college student.. shouldn't you just be sewing your wild oats and not rush it... the days of marrying young and having child before you are 20 is long gone from the type of woman you are looking for... We now get to pick our lives before the responsibility of children come into the picture... equality means we get a life and our own interest now too.... we get to find ourselves as the men always had the opportunity for.... so chill out... make friends male and female and don't be in a hurry.. cause now you can really find a girl compatible.. once she gets to find herself.

No problem with it at all. If I was being critical, I would say that LGBT people that are Christians (and a few Muslims) try to make their own personal faith LGBT friendly (and there are a few very LGBT friendly churches too). There is nothing wrong with this but to me, this seems like trying to get blood from a stone, trying to make an ecocar from a Ford model B hotrod or trying to get a WWI biplane to go into space. Basically, it would be far easier if you started with something that was already slightly LGBT friendly (as opposed to mostly indifferent / unrecognising of it and occasionally very harsh).

No, you're not asking for too much, it's ok to know what you want in a woman.

I think that there are plenty of ladies whom are athiest, liberal-minded and very smart in both the R&S and GWS (Gender & Women's studies) sections, maybe you'll come across some of them.

I'll star this and hope it helps a bit, best wishes for you in your search!

You had me right up till the Dennis Kucinich line...

Um, first, please know that you are only in college. There is a lot to be said for gray hair. It's called wisdom. In college, you are supposed to be full of piss and vinegar, which you obviously are. LIFE, is really, really different from college. But you will find that out with time.

Regarding your mate....you don't necessarily have to marry someone exactly like you. I know lots of mixed marriages that work out just fine. Look at Schwarzenegger and Shriver. Holy cow!!! A staunch Republican marrying into the Kennedy family!!! And they make it work just fine.

Heck, play your cards right and you might hook up with Ann Coulter.

Yeah I looked over your posts and you seem pretty judgmental to me. You could be a nice guy, but everyone is nice to their own circle of friends. Nothing wrong with being an atheist, I'm sure that someone would go for you. However there is something wrong with being a hypocrite in denial.

I don't want to date you (you're too young for me) but that description sounds very good to me. In fact, I dated similar people when I was in college, although I didn't meet any of them through personals ads.

If you like biking, perhaps you might meet people of similar interests in a biking club... ?

Never heard of the plenty of fish site.

I'm sure there's someone out there. I'm glad there's someone like you out there, even though I'm not in college yet (I might not be into the cycling, but otherwise, I can fit your description). Your question gives me a bit of hope, though, that there are men who would like open-minded, politic-arguing women.

Wow, you're perfect for me... too bad I'm probably 10 years older than you :(

BTW: your girl doesn't have to have all the same beliefs as you. You can find a pagan, or an agnostic liberal who likes Obama. True you should have the same interests, but don't be too picky :)
