Diploma vs. GED?
Are there any differences between a HS Diploma or a GED? I once heard somewhere that if you have your GED that you won't get paid as much as you would if you had a Diploma....is that true? What about if you finish college and start a career, would you be paid less because you have a GED?

in some instances...if you have a GED and dont go to college or have some other type of education, then yes you wont make as much money as the person who has a highschool diploma. The opposite is true also...if you have a GED and then go to college and take a few class but have a major, you will definately make more money than the person with just the highschool diploma.
In a lot of jobs out here they dont even care if you have a highschool diploma or a GED as long as you have one or the other. (its really the same to them)
Well Good Luck...hope this was helpful

Once you have a college diploma no one is likely to be interested in the type of high school diploma that you possess.
To a great extent employers can set up pay scales based on whatever criteria they choose as long as it meets minimum wage laws and is not discriminatory on th basis of race, religion, handicap, age or sex.
A GED diploma is an inferior product. It does not match the learning and discipline that takes place during a full four year high school education. it is a shortcut and everyone knows it is a shortcut.
