1996 civic lx auto trans slip?
I bought a 96 civic lx for a commuter car it has 154k on it. when i bought the car the trans was sliping between 2nd and 3rd and ocassionally grinding in between 2nd and 3rd. took it to a trans shop and had them put in a good used trans with only 45k miles on it and it is slipping a little also not near as bad though.
my question: can the shift points and firmness be changed in this car. my old civic had a upshift cable that could be adjusted but I think this one is all computer controlled?
is it normal for a 96 civic lx to shift slow between 2nd and 3rd.
also thinking about converting to manual if this trans dies to?
Thanks!

that paticular mode car has problem with its transsmission, best choice for you is to replace the box to a manual if your keeping it.
these models came from japan and were fitted with CVT transs which are slow and problem if you dont drive like an old lady. most civic's around that year have similar problem with its transsmissions.

This is definitely not normal for a Honda. This car has either been abused or it's a lemmon. Either way, you are looking at premature tranmission failure. Best solution is to sell this car while it has good value and buy a NEW Honda!
