Brother or Janome?
Which is the better brand for a basic sewing machine? I am looking at the Brother ES 2000. What do you think?

I own a brother sewing machineand a brother embroidery machine, I love them both. They are super easy to use, priced extremely fair and are hard to tear up. I have more than 12 million stitches(all from quilting) on the sewing machine and it still works like brand new

For just a basic machine, any of them are good. I personally own 2 kennermores and one nechi. All of them are good machines. None of them do the fancy stitches, just the basics. What you have is fine for the basics, however, when you get ready to move on to a better machine, make sure that you "test drive" it out. Go to some quilt shows, sewing centers, JoAnns, Sears, anywhere that you can try it before you buy it. Check the bobbin area, is it like what your used to, is it easy to change. Also, another great place to get one cheaper is www.kenssewingcenter.com they have alot of great machines.
