Could the United States regain credibility with its critics here in the US and other countries?

If, Al Jazeera, Muslim Clerics, and the Iraqi citizens turned on the Al Qaida and Taliban? Wouldn’t this be a win for the US and its allies, and our War on Terrorism?

Update:

Chi guy - as always thank for your input, I think we agree to disagree.

Yacommie - I agree thanks for your input.

The United States, and the freedom it represents, is winning in Iraq and liberals hate it. The USA has credibility where it counts, liberal opinion be damned.

No. AL-Q was NOT in Iraq prior to the invasion. I will never consider losing 4000 soldiers and a projected $2 trillion to simply undo the damage that was caused BY the invasion as a victory.

It is as though one has willfully burned down their neighbor's home, fought off looters, and rebuilt a shell of a home where it once stood. In the process, several hundred firefighters were killed.

This isn't a "I hate Bush" rant. This is my honest assessment of the situation.
