"Why do finger nails bend?"?

My finger nails sometimes bend. My husband says that water is good for finger nails. What can you put on it to make them stronger and not to bend?

Length: Keep your nails medium to short. They will be less likely to break.

Shape: Square is the strongest of all shapes because you have the width for support. Filing them oval offers no stability.

Filing: File in one direction only. Back and forth will weaken the nail.

Condition: Use a product called Healthy Hoof. Available in Beauty Salons. If not, you may have to buy it from Ebay Australia. It was created from the Equestrian formula used to treat cracking in Horses hooves...hence the name.

Massage: Massaging the area stimulates blood flow and keratin production. (the stuff your nails are made of)

Medication: What medication are you taking? Some medications will weaken the skin, hair and nails.

Suppliments: You can get herbal suppliments for essential minerals you may be missing in your diet. They are simply a multi vitamin, targeting Keratin production. Speak with your Herbalist.

Finally. Wear a clear varnish during the day to protect.

The truth about Nail Polish Strengtheners:

In my (and all my clients) opinions, it does not work! They only seem strong, because they have a coat of varnish on them. Much like a wearing pair of shoes, they are still soft underneath. You feet are not stronger if you are wearing shoes...they are just protected.

You need a product that will penetrate the nail to condition it as it grows. How does a product that dries penetrate the nail? It doesnt. Go for the Healthy Hoof.

Massage under the cuticle (where the new nail forms) to get great results. I like to do this in bed.

Water is good for your nails. He is correct. I had the same problem with my nails always bending and ugh...the feeling that comes with it sometimes, makes me want to just crawl up in a ball and cry.

Try NutraNail. I did and it helped my nails alot. It's a tainted blue clear polish (when it's on you only see clear) that strengthens your nails and it helps them grow some too.

Water is not really good for nails. Neither is chemicals such as dishwashing detergent, and things like that. Nail Polish really makes your nails weaker. The best thing to do is to rub a good cuticle oil into your nails every night. And have your nails without nail polish for a while. Also wear Nail Miracle by Sally Hansen it really works. Oh- and wear gloves while cleaning and washing dishes.

My nails have that problem too and also a problem with flaking. I use a sally hansen product called miracle cure and that helps alot. I also used their nail strengthener and that did okay too. Be sure to take vitamins that will help them grow out healthier.

ain't much u can do when they get to certain length. It's simple. it's simple law of gravity. if u put nail hardeners on them, then they'll crack with time. I have a friend here who nails are the length of a writing pen but they are all bent in the same direction.

Fingernails are made of the same cells as hair, these cells are fibrous, and stringy. That is why they bend. Water is good for your whole body. It helps all cells grow. If you want healthy nails eat green leafy veggies.
