Did you see Bradys explanation for running up the score?

He said that he, Moss, Welker, and Stallworth have only been together for 8 weeks and they need all the real game time together that they can get to gel.

Seems perfectly logical to me.

Update:

Its sad that only 1 out of 10 people(Zakkk) know what they are talking about concerning this question. I am confused as to why the other people are even in the football category answering questions. I am holding out hope for next batch of answers though.

That seems logical to me too. They were not running up the score, they were practicing! It is true though that they need to keep working together and getting set. Go Pats!

This is professional football. No mercy rule. Players get paid to perform. Tom Brady and the Patriots are having a season for the ages. So, yes, they need to be at the top of their game for every game because they are being paid to perform at a high level. No problem here from me, if they win by a lot. It is the other teams problem to figure out how to stop them. If they cannot, well too bad. BTW, I am not a Patriots fan. I am an Eagles fan and when the Patriots play the Eagles, I think that they will destroy them, but I will not blame the Patriots, I will blame the Eagles for not been up to the task. When you are a professional, you want to be the best at what you do, therefore, the Patriots are showing the world that they are the best team on the NFL right now, until somebody beats them, if they can be beaten, which I doubt. They are a team that has a realistic chance of going 16 - 0. So they might be the best team ever to play professional football.

There must be a logical reason for keeping Brady in the game because he risks injury whenever he plays.

It does not make sense to keep Brady in the game just to run up a score and embarass the opponent. An injury to Brady would basically end the season for the Pats. There is too much money at stake to be screwing around with egos and personal reasons.

It only makes sense to keep Brady in the game if his participation will help to win future games. Getting more playing time to gel with his receivers fits this scenario.

I'm not a Patriots fan but why is everyone crying about a lack of respect for running the score up? This is the NFL. Give the fans what they came to see. Play until the last second. Did you see how the fans in London booed the Giants for running out the clock? They want to see football not a kneel down or pitiful football because you are up by 21 in the 4th. If you ask me, the way to gain respect in the NFL is to blow teams out of the water. Beat them as badly as you can and they will know that you are serious. That's how you get respect! The Pats have mine.

And did you read what Bill Cowher said about it?

That he could be a victim of a cheap shot.

But anyway, what about Sammy Morris and especially first rounder Laurence Maroney? Doesn't he need all the real game time too?

I don't like the Patriots, but I think it would be nice to see more teams run up scores. You're playing a game, win by obliterating your opponents if you can. That does make sense though, they need to get as comfortable as they can with each other so they're prepared for big games like this week against the Colts.

What did Manning have to say about running up the score on the Jaguars last weeking 31-7 ?

And.... what do you have to say about the Colts having one of the highest offensive point totals in the NFL for the past 8 years or so ???

Ummm - Ordinary... Brady was pulled in the 4th quarter too...

Teams should be celebrated for playing great football however the Patriots are becoming less respectable each passing day.

This should say something about their character and their coach's class.

Well programmed response (nice PR). I guess it's more politically correct than saying the coach is calling the plays and he's mad at the league.

Well Tom Brady is god after all. I bet he has a cure for Cancer and AIDS.

I expect nothing more from a bandwagon Pats fan.
