Ways to improve typing speed?
I'm taking a computer class at my Jr. high school. Our goal is only 25 words per minute, and I'm not to worried about meeting that. We take our tests on www.typingtest.com. I can do 100+ WPM and touch type. I was looking for a (free?) program or something else that can help improve my typing speed even more? Thanks!

I don't know about any software you can get, but you might be able to get typing books from your library and practice with that. This is what we used when I was in high school for typing class. Old fashioned, but it works. Since you probably know where all the letters are on your keyboard, try placing your 4 fingers on "home row", which is the middle row of letters on your keyboard. Start with your pinky on the letter 'A' , the next finger on 's' and so on. G & H should be left open. Your thumbs should be on the space bar. Keep these fingers on home row and only move them to the letters that are on that hands side. Now all you have to do is start typing. Open a word document on your computer and practice on that. It doesn't take long to pick up your pace if you know where all the letters are on your keyboard. Hope this helps.

The real way of learning is by practicing... a lot!
To achieve this, try these very simple exercices.
1) Position your hands correctly. Your left index should be on the 'F' and your right one on the 'J'.
2) Now, try one row at a time: QQQQQ, WWWWW, EEEEE, and so on, WITHOUT looking at your hands. You should have a 'piano technique', meaning that you must use the right finger for the right key, not always your index...
3) Then, try the alphabet, and once again, without looking at your fingers or at the keyboard. Sure, it will be hard at first, but you MUST learn the positions of the keys by heart if you want to achieve fast typing.
The hardest parts are the numbers, basically because they're 2 rows above your fingers. So it will take practice, but trust me, it will be worth it!
Good luck!

That's how you learn to type fast. The more you do it the fast and more accurate you get.
