Who is the STIG?

the original stig who wore black was perry mc carthy who got the sack for revealing in his autobiography that he was the stig,

his replacement who wares white is ben collins, who drove in ascar, nascar, & touring car .

collins also appeared on the show as himself several times, racing a kid on a skateboard down a hill, catching a parachutist while driving a convertable, & playing car football in toyota aygo's.

the accident report from richard hammond's high speed crash states that collins "worked closely with top gear as a high performance driver and consultant". It does not name him as 'the stig' though.

it is also rumoured that some car manufacturers use their own test drivers for insurance purposes.

Original Stig was Perry McCarthy, ex F1 test driver, but got the sack for revealing his identity in his autobiography.

Apparently it's not an F1 (which eliminates ol Damo) driver because he's to aggresive with the cars, and he's come from BTCC background because of the abuse he gives the car over the kerbs.

The Stig is the best kept secret the BBC have - and the most interesting.

i dont think it's jodie kidd cause he's not tall enought and she is seriously tall!! it could be daemon hill but i actually think it's just someone who used to work at Ferarri or somewhere, testing the F1 cars. But i'm sure we will never know!

i personally think that the stig is, if male its damon hill or if female its jody kidd, i am nearly 99% sure its jody kidd, good luck you will get a lot of answers im sure
