Why Would Jesus Have to Die on the Cross?

Hamad my friend, you have hit the nail on the head. It makes no sense that Jesus or anyone had to die for our sins. BUT who am I to question the will of God?

The answer is right there...The soul that sinneth SHALL DIE.

Jesus died on the cross for multiple reasons.

1. He had to make the previous law (old Testament) null & void.

2. He said "And if I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me".

3. Jesus did not have to suffer, if He didn't want to. He just like us had FREE WILL. But He knew what He was put on Earth for, because He is God's son.

4. He was made sin, so that we could be forgiven. None of us are good or pure enough to see God. That's why God took a piece of Himself, became flesh, walked the Earth and was made atonement for our sins.

You sound like you're searching for answers; Why don't you eanestly seek God and ask for a relationship with Him. He'll give you all the wisdom you want. Don't do it to be cynical or sarcastically.

Ask, and He'll give it to you. But He will not force a relationship with you.

God does indeed make the rules.

In Genesis 3:21 God Himself establishes the rule and practice of a blood-sacrifice to cover over the knowledge that sin brought.

Only Jesus was pure enough to be that unblemished blood sacrifice for the sins of mankind.

Ezekiel 18:20 is saying that every individual is responsible for their own Salvation. That our earthly fathers (dads) sins will not effect us. We are only responsible for our own sins that we do, and must repent for our own sins, and ours only. This proclaims in no uncertain terms that Salvation is entirely a personal matter.

Yes, you are right, God could have forgiven us himself, but he wanted to show the world just how awful sin really is. And by himself becoming the Blessed Sacrifice he not only showed us how awful sin really is, but also showing the dept of the Love he has for us, his creation.

It's part of the drama, to have the righteous hero die in the prime of life.

Of course God could have forgiven without killing, but that's not how Gods operate, they like sacrifices, the bloodier the better.

It was'nt a cross, per say. And that's how criminals were put to death in that time period.
