Technology is only a fraction of it. We have the best not commisioned officers in the world and our military is very well trained and equipped. Technology helps but its not the whole picture. The US military thinks ther are good is because they are. Great Britan, Israel to name a few are also good and rely on the same technology to help. Even if they didnt have it the US forces would be superior over most everyone else. To the two above the russians are a good 10 years or so behind the US in several area's and china's military has even admited they are a good 20 years or more behind the US in technology at least do some research guys.

So do you think the soldiers out there arent risking their lives daily? Let me put it this way...I am willing to bet that if you asked a soldier from every war if there was something to keep his buddies that died alive and it was something technoligical..that they wouldnt have used it in a heartbeat? And not just the U.S. but any other country that has fought in a war? Just because you are a soldier, it doesnt mean that you want to die in a battle...you want to use every resource available to keep that from happening.

Lets go back into history- WWI- alot of trench fighting where if you stuck your head up..it would have been blown off so they came up with a Trench periscope- or a rifle with a periscope attached

    - or a slit was made at the top of the trench where a steel plate could be put to protect a troops head- but the Germans found a way around that by using armor piercing bullets

Civil War- use of a submarine by the Confederates to plant mines on the side of ships or to drill holes

WWII- the Germans had far superior weapons..tanks..etc than the U.S(we used alot of captured German tecnology for future weapon/aircraft designs).. the only reason why we made it through as fast as we did is because the Germans decided to expend most of their resources on Russia- Hitlers madness was his downfall in that aspect..luckily for us..but we still lost alot of troops

So its not just the U.S that has used technology to their advantage..I could keep going through history with other countries we have fought with their use of technology..but we would be here awhile

we rely on technology no more than the average soldier from most countries and Much of that technology is very useful in saving soldiers lives.

Because we have the basic and advanced training down hard core. We rely on technology only as a resource, we can still kick the feces out of the enemy.

Are you suggesting they aren't good Bryan?

I suggest you read up on US military conflicts and their outcomes.

-No military force on the planet is as feared and loved as well as admired as the Armed Forces of the United States of America.

  • Everyone thinks they are good. It can't be helped.

Though mind you, it certainly is kind of hypocritical for people to accuse insurgents of being cowards when their own troops hide behind the best fire support and armor advantages known to man. Yeah, like any sane person's going to fight them out of cover.

But like it or not, that's the way things are. If you lack the ability to give your forces the best technology available, tough luck.

Some Civil War general said that the key to winning battles and wars is "...to get there the firstest with the mostest..." It then follows that whoever has the 'mostest' is not only a good armed force, but also the best. Nuff said.

The side that has the most superior weapons wins.

For example, in Iraq, the enemy used IEDs. That killed a lot of troops, but then the US came up with the MRAP. Casualties are down.

The side that has the most superior weapons wins.

We don't rely on technology, we use it to full advantage.

We don't think we are good, we know we are great!
