Where else can I show poems like this?
My poems are usually too long for contests, or too short to have a decent chance (who would ever pick a winner that was a haiku, right? no matter how good), or they contain spacing that make them somewhat concrete and won't translate onto a site... do you have to decide between showing any kind of poem you want and having a shot, or is there a place where you can enter anything?
"One for the squashed."
O pioneer, that entered our sterile Arcadia
in the name of your brave kind, you
dared show yourself, to quietly claim
in your corner you belonged, too. Nothing
would have come of it - no mate, no prey.
Still, too light to trigger nerves, you strode
upon the perceptions of unwelcoming gods.
They stomped you one for good measure.
You both knew it at the start - you were,
intolerably, the stronger.
(this one, as you may have guessed, is not really about the spider, but is really something semi-autobiographical.)
interesting consideration, TD - in fact I have been putting together a little collection on the subject of insects & their ilk. But before I proceeded, I was hoping to air some of them for rewiew and reworking.

Very strong piece.
As far as "where" to post, you will get lots of opinions.
You have to consider the "value" of the work. Do you want it to be part of something larger, like a book? Do you want it to become a hit song?
Or, do you just want a platform so you can tell a small audience how you feel about the world around you?
I have posted hundreds of poems all over the web for 15 years. This Yahoo! Answers forum provides quick responses and detailed analysis from some amazing people.
Look at yours with a clear eye. What is it? What do you want it to be?

Yes, like the movie, it is surely graphic and emotional. But Christ was about saving, not suffering. He was the gift, not a bloody body brutally nailed to wood. One reason the Passion didn't really do well, it did not tell the story of the gift, the gift of Christ. Mankind has always been able to beat and batter others, it was only the kindness of Gods gift of Jesus that changed the world. So please, go back, write another with the same passion, only this time, write about the absolute gift, the kindness and the love brought to us by Jesus. You know, Jesus is what is missing in some radical religions; if they had Jesus and his teachings in their hearts and minds, they could not, in the future, do the things they have done in the past.

It is a strong piece of work
To me it sounds like it belongs to a god or leader in an on line game where the speaker is addressing his foe, after losing a battle
I see the spider but not as a spider, know what I mean.
I have not read anything else you have writen, and I don't claim to know much about poetry. Or so it goes........
Source(s): Get into writing I think your strength is there, poetry is to soft a word for what this is all about. meh... - thom tLv 61 decade ago

Poems are their fodder,
They take your dough.
If you are naive.

okay, i am not "just saying this". Your poem was one of the best pieces of writing i have taken in in a long time. Not just ON yahoo, but all around. It made me shiver. I appreciate all the criticism and support you have given my poems, as well. Thanks
