Depends who was taking care of everything. See I am a stay at home mother and if my husband and I were to split up he would have to pay it cause he is the one working and taking care of everything.

One party brought the money into the house and

one part stayed at home and did the domestic chores:

After a divorce, the original breadwinner pays about 15% of the salary to the domestic party. There should be a deadline (6 months) for the domestic party to find a job. After the 6 months is up, alimony stops.

Car payments, housing rent, kids. Doesn't matter. NO alimony.

The party who wants these items will be forced to handle the expenses on their own. If they want the items, the responsibilitiy is all their's.

The one who wasn't working and didn't have an income at the time of the divorce. They should have a certain amount of time to get a job, and then the alimony should stop. If they were both working, then no alimony.

In the US, other than a few celebrities, who actually gets alimony? I haven't heard of anyone who's poor, blue-collar, or even middle-class paying or being paid alimony. But if a woman or man had no skills to support themselves with, because they had been taking care of the household and children, I'd say they need a period of time to get skills, so they can support themselves.

Nobody. The 2 people in question both need to get jobs and take care of themselves. If there are children involved, and one parent has most of the custody, the other parent needs to pay child support, but that has nothing to do with alimony.

In this day and age, when both men and women are capable of being financially independent, no one should receive alimony. Both spouses need to have some assets in their name only.

No i do no longer think of adult adult males or women human beings ought to recieve it. sources are divided in 0.5 in maximum cases whether one companion easily attained the majority on my own. I additionally think of baby help has become insane. I even have custody of my son and signed a notice pointing out that i wouldn't in any respect take baby help from my ex even regardless of the undeniable fact that i'm purely a working class cat. I dont say human beings shouldnt get baby help purely that that's in many cases severe of what it somewhat costs to develop a baby and only as in many cases the recipient makes use of the money for non baby expenditures like own entertainment and outfits etc- no longer mortgages etc it somewhat is obviously honest. You get divorced- then bypass out and earn your guy or woman residing
