I have a turkey hunting question...?

I have been seeing a big flock of turkeys pass through a particular spot in my woods for the past few days.I was hoping to maybe go out hunting and see if I can shoot one.I was wondering,if I shoot one in the spot I have been seeing them, will they keep coming to that same spot?Or will they be too scared to come back?

Most likely if there's not a lot of hunting pressure already they'll come back. There must be a good food source that keeps them coming back. And try to find were they roost. That will extremely help your game. And don't forget this time of year you can harvest both toms and hens, no need to be picky just to put a turkey on the Thanksgiving table. Have fun be safe and good luck!

They will come back after a few days.

The pass through that area for a reason. Either food along that way or it takes them to food or it bypasses known predator areas. They will come back because in the long run it is more convenient for them.

I have seen this in personal experience. I know an old man who hunts the same ridge top intersection (where 3 ridges come together) every year. And every winter he kills a big buck and every spring he kills a big Tom turkey. The geography is on his side.

They will not go to the same spot in the woods. It depends on how big the flock would be on that very day. It also depends on the turkey's beard If it's a male turkey would have to be six inches long.

They will most likely come back if they don't sense too much of a threat. So if you do hunt one of them, then make sure not to leave things behind, and try not to leave your scent behind also!

i exploit pretend turkey wings on my decoys. It provides a sprint realism to the decoy. It facilitates them get in a sprint closer. they are on a spring and related to a string going back to my blind.

Johnny: I'd like to see you get a wild turkey, then come back and repeat that. Dumbass.

    Hunting?

How is it 'hunting' if you're gonna shoot an animal that's been walking past that same spot for "the past few days"?

Isn't that more along the lines of 'waiting and killing'?

Source(s): Edit: To my friend below: A little touchy are we? You know, when I was a kid I could put an arrow through a quail (no kidding) but I'm not so much into killing stuff anymore. I guess my point was, if you're gonna sit and wait 'til something walks by and then shoot it with a rifle, lets call that what it is. And if that's what you wanna do then I say 'live and let live' - wait, maybe that's the wrong saying...
