In Chicago proper, you'd want Lincoln Park, which is on the western border of the huge Lincoln Park, and has lots of restaurants, nightlife, etc. Lakeview is the same in terms of park access and restaurants. The nieghborhood in the city that is closest to the most big parks is Hyde Park on the south side, which is surrounded by large parks (Jackson, Washington, and Burnham), and while it's a nice place, it doesn't have lots of restaurants like Lincoln Park and Lakeview.
In the suburbs, Highland Park has a huge park off the lake (Sunset Woods), and several small public spaces on the Lake itself, as well as other planned park spaces. Lots of restaurants are there and in neighboring areas in Northbrook, and Highwood. Evanston is also a good choice, with some large public spaces on the lake, and a large number of good restaurants. Highland Park is close to an expressway that will take you into town, and has a commuter train line into the city. Evanston borders the city, and also is on the same commuter train line, as well as the city's public transportation system.
One thing you can do is use google earth's satellite views to zero in on big green spaces, many will be golf courses but you'll get a better idea of where the big parks are.

Depends on what you'll be doing there...living....vacationing....commuting....kids in school...working??
All of the above mentioned are good neighborhoods, with the exception of Bridgeport. It is pretty rough in certain parts but I seem to recall that the mayor's parents live in Bridgeport, so there are some nice sections.
Tinley Park was not mentioned and I think that is a nice suburb. Close to I80 making I57, I294 and a new extension has made it possible to travel to northern suburbs via I355. (Not open yet, should be open very soon.)
Chicago and surrounding burbs is very large, so you have many great choices. Perhaps you'd like a Realtor to advise you.
Good luck.
Peace.

Roscoe Village, West Ridge, Bucktown.... and well some of the nicest neighborhoods are probably the expensive neighborhoods like the Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Old Town, Ravenswood, Wrigleyville, and North Center.

The entire North Shore: Evanston, Wilmette, Winnetka, Glenco, Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, Highland Park, Kenilworth, Glenview, Northfield, Northbrook...all really nice and have a lot to offer.

Homewood is a quiet place! It really starting to develop! It's only 20 minutes or so from the south side border going down Halsted. It even has Metra Electric line to take you downtown, as also has an Amtrak stop!

The nicest neighborhood in Chicago to me has to be Bridgeport...Some of the houses there are real nice but its a tougher neighborhood. The nicest Chicago suburb to me has to be New Lenox.

I lived in LaGrange for six years and I think that it is just a great American town .In addition to having all the other things that you requested it has easy access to the downtown & O'Hare via public transportation ,Check out what you will but definetly do check out LaGrange & LaGrange Park before you make up your mind as to where you're going to move to.

I'm going to have to say Elmhurst. It's really boomed in the last few years and the downtown area is adorable. Has everything you need just steps away from the Metra station.

Most people in Chicagoland choose their home by where they work. It's a big city; why would you cross the whole area just to get to work? Please add more information, I will check back.
I lived in Evanston for 12 or so years, it is a beautiful town.
