What age were u when you first drank alcohol? What was it?

The key is to have secure kids. The kids I know who drank at high school knew their parents didn't give a crap or weren't really involved in their lives, so they took advantage of it and became more reliant on their dumb little buddies for a support network. I'm not saying get in your kids' faces and constantly demand to know how their day was, but just establish that they can come to you about anything with no judgement.

I had my first "drink"-drink when I was 14, but it was out of experimentation than social pressure. I drank my mom's Jack and some wine (did this for about a week) at home, didn't like it, and haven't drank since (except at Shabbat), and I'm a sophomore in college. No, it's not "the" thing to do when you're in college. If kids grow up and think that the only way they can have fun in college without getting wasted, then the parents did something wrong. Those kids are an embarassment. I'm so sick of seeing beer cans littered over the campus and neighborhoods after weekends and seeing the stuff broken and vandalized after a night out drinking. I think a lot has to do with self-confidence too, since these kids don't think they'll be able to relate to others or amuse themselves without being drunk, or they gain a "reputation" and feel like they have to stick with it ("Invite Amy to the party - she's a crazy drunk!"...heard this a couple days ago).

I admit, sometimes it's hard to say no...I'm out at friends' houses and they're talking about what tastes better, coke and jack or Kahlua (or something else that they think sounds "adult" and makes them sound "totally awesome") and they'll ask me if I want a drink, and it feels like I have to or else I won't be on the same page as the rest of them, but all it comes down to is being secure enough to know you can have fun without it, and that comes from home.

When I was 15 I drank beer for the first time.

I was real little like 8 and we were having a family gathering. I had some margarita and beer or wine or something. It was disgusting I almost puked, but hey were irish

16 is when i actually started drinking socially. and it has increased every year since then. i am 20 now and a college student so what do you expect? buuut my little brother was 13 when he got curious about alcohol and started going into our fridge and taking my dad's beers. i think middle school is the best time to talk to kids.

i was 15 vodka,captain morgan,kentucky whisky,rum,crown royal. lots of hard liquor beer isent that great o and that was all in one night it was fun and dident get a hangover did pass out. Oh and im a strait A student so yeah i pressured people in to getting it for me just to dang curious
