Boxers vs Briefs and other tips on increasing fertility?
Hi! Like most of you, I am focused on what I can do to increase my (and my DH's) fertility. Firstly, he says he would switch to boxers but he read somewhere that its an urban legend that they increase sperm count. Anyone else heard this? Also, I would like to regulate my cycles, encourage healthy hormonal balance and ovulation. Im realizing that I hardly ever have the EWCM, the stretchy fertile kind. Does this mean Im not ovulating? Im using the Clearblue fertility monitor too and its day 16 and I still havent had a peak fertility day.
Also, Ive been thinking of other things I can do like vitamins, folic acid, herbs, massages, healthy food. Is pre-seed worth it? Does Robitussin or mucinex help? What about ensuring I get enough sleep? (Which is hard because I have insomnia!)
What else could I be doing to stimulate fertility? Balance hormones? Encourage healthy ovulation? And if fertilization does occur, how can I encourage implantation? And stay pregnant?
ANY TIPS ANYONE????
my cycles are 30-33 days long and if I am ovulating, its later in the cycle. How do you get to see a fertility specialist? Do you have to be referred?

Boxers are better because they help the testicles to keep a regulated temperature. Too hot and sperm die off really quick.
If you notice no physical signs of ovulation as well as no postive OPK, you may have an ovulation issue that you will need to talk to a fertility specialist about. How long are your cycles?
*You don't need a referral to see a fertility specialist, but you can ask for one from your doctor. Check with your insurance to find out if you have infertility benefits and what docs in your area are in network with your ins.
*Since your cycles are longer, then you may logically ovulate later in your cycle, Keep testing up to CD20. If you don't have a positive by then, there might be something wrong.
I've heard pre-seed helps if you have low or no EWCM, so this can help you.
Good sleep will definately help. Stress can decrease your fertility, so enough sleep is better, of course.
You can talk to your doctor about making sure your hormones are normal. If you have a deficiency in estrogen or progesterone, there are meds and cremes you can use.
There isn't anything that encourages implantation, but avoid ibuprophen, as this interferes with implantation. Nothing but God, nature, and your body can keep you pregnant.
Of course, avoid alcohol, cigarettes and drugs. Talk to your doc about early pregnancy precautions, so you know what to avoid when you even think you are pregnant.
You can always try a balanced exercise and diet. Studies show that losing even 5-10lbs can increase your chances of conceiving. I lost 30lbs in a month and ended up pregnant 2 mos later.

Read the book, The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis. The book discusses Chinese medicine, diet, herbs and acupuncture to increase fertility and promote a healthy pregnancy.
You should try acupuncture. It has helped may women conceive.
You should take a prenatal vitamin and 1000mg of folic acid starting three months prior to conceiving. This is to help the baby be healthy and prevent birth defects.
You need to relax. Stress is the enemy. It can prevent you from conceiving, impede implantation and at extreme levels contribute to miscarriage. You should exercise regularly to help reduce stress and to be healthy. If a massage will help you relax, then get a massage.
Forget the ovualtion predictor and start charting your waking temperature. It is the only way to know exactly when you are ovulating. The book Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a must read.
Buy and use preseed when you figure out when you are ovualting. It may be all you need. I have gotten pregnant twice using it. The first time I got pregnant, I got pregnant the first time I used it. The second time I got pregnant, I got pregnant the second time I used it. I very rarely notice egg white mucus during my cycles as well. http://www.preseed.com/

Now everyone can cure infertility using this natural remedy http://pregnancyhelps.info/
infertility can run in the family and one of the first things the doctor asks you when you go to a fertility clinic is your family history regarding cases of infertility or other reproductive issues.
If infertility is caused by genetic disorder then it's not unusual that one of the kids (your mom) doesn't have it and another does (your aunt).
two months of trying is still to early to be concerned about the fact that you might be infertile and it's also quite early to go to a fertility specialist. Go to a regular Obgyb to get a closer insight and see what ways there are are to improve your fertility rate.
Also remove alcohol, caffeine and cigarettes from your life because they might influence your chances too. Stress is also a risk factor when it comes to infertility.

Two brief answers...
1. Doctors will tell him to switch to boxes (it's not just an urban legend).
2. Read the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". It's become the defacto standard reading for couples having issues with infertility.

I wanted to add to the other great answers you received that I used Robitussin the last two months ttc. It worked remarkably well for me. I did not get ewcm before, only lotiony during ovulation. After using it I had abundant ewcm for about three days straight each cycle. I am including a link to directions for its use for ttc. Good Luck :)

I gave my second semen sample today. The result of my first semen analysis was severe teratozoospermia. My sperm morphology is very poor. Doctor said that try to avoid any heat before second analysis. Briefs and other thight under wears or jeans can overheat the testicles and make sperm worse. That is not urban legend that is the medical fact!
