The good point that Colin b is making here is that while the "statistics" (which are created from sampling parts of the population, not the whole population) may show that the number of "employed persons" has risen, in fact full-time employment has decreased while part time employment has increased. And people in part time work often have more than one job, so could also be "counted twice" in these statistics.

You can work just 1 hour a week to be counted as "employed"... so when the statistics say more people are employed that doesn't mean that more people are in full time employment... the true picture is that more people are not getting enough employment.

So they can just stick their skewed statistics and Workchoices where the sun don't shine. :P

Figures are made to say what ever one wants then to say.

Howard knows this and uses then to tell the people Lies.

How many full time jobs have been lost overseas when all the businesses are leaving Australia.

How many jobs have been down graded to part time or job experience. Then there is all the casuals jobs that take away your rights to holidays.

Full time jobs have gone out the windows with the

manufacturing. To countries that have slave labour and that is what they are trying to do here make you work on slave pay.

Over 11 years we have had all the tax relief for the companies and wealthy and just a little for the poor or none at all.

The so call figures tell us that we are better off now than ever before. WHY THEN IS THE COSTS GOING UP? but the CPI is not reflecting it. Some cooked figures again with out doubt.

It would depend on who did the actual recording ,and are there actual figure's based on the data , never actual checking it out, most of the data comes from Centrelink, that way they can tell how many are on New-start, but most data is on the amount of jobs that are in the data base, some times those jobs are in fact ghost jobs, as it is not updated per daily, and that is not a good data record,

So when Howad says ,that then he is in denial of the actual fact because of the amount of people getting retrenched , Companies going bust, Just look at the Airline Annsett, all those employees, and there have been a lot more since then so I would say the books have been altered to suit him

Most of the records that are here are either on a casual basis , and not full time work or partime , because of the difference of work situations , if one months says such and is not then that is fiction. When data is in fact backed up by a daily basis then it would be a correct one.But which is the most reliable ?

I have never been out of work except by my choice, I now run my own business and continually advertise for staff without much success I must say, I offer hours to suit and what staff I have, get paid well above the award. I have work coming out my ears and not enough staff to fill the vacancies, so you be the judge. Yes there are a lot of part time positions out there and yes there are probably a lot of people out there working more than one job but I have to say that both my husband and myself had to work more than one job each back in the 80's when we had interest rates at 18% plus just to make sure that we didn't lose our home. Thank to the Labour party , one should be greatful that the interest rates are only a fraction of that these days and instead of complaining about the Govt and singing the praises of the Labour party try taking a look at how the state of NSW's is being run not very WELL so I guess if your happy with how the Labour party is running the state by all means vote labour to run the country, me for one will not be voting Labour on the 24/11/07 as I do not want to be in another recession just because people confuse the State govt miss handling with the Federal.

To Wake-up My Parents had a Mortgage when HOWARD was Treasurer and they had to work 2 jobs each and my 2 Brothers and I had to sell news parers to make ends meet Because HOWARD had interest rates of 22%. Howards jobless figures are deceiptive,and is no suprise at all. His whole time in office has been nothing but decetion and lies. Oh and the labour party did not cause the recsion it was a world wide recsion.

It's easy. If you work more than 1 hour per week you are not counted in the 'unemployment' stats.

The figures you give allude to that fact. Full time employment is down but part-time is up.

Too many people are having to work a number of part-time jobs just to make ends meet.

The dodgy figures make the Govt look good but try putting that to the numerous people with one job and telling them that they're not unemployed.

In some areas of the country it's a bit skewed I'd say.... You have to realize after NAFTA was signed into law in the early 1990's.... The American worker was all but a thing of the past.

The people that are working are working at a much lower wage than before, it takes a few years to put a multi million dollar facility in a third world country. Therefore it took a while for the law to really see it's full intention of selling our jobs to the lowest bidder.
