omg... that's how i found out i had it when my daughter 15 years ago had it... it made my world.. i was always told I'm lazy, i don't care about school work, i talked w/out zipping it, scored high on tests, but everyday school work was painful, ,,, a book called driven by distraction is great, both Dr. in book are add adhd Harvard too, its a relief for me, but its also been alot of info gathering,,pills don't = skills... medication is a tool, but a tool that has many trial and error, normally a mother daughter both with add adhd, the same medication works, if that's the route you choose, but you need to get pro-active with all the info you can absorb.. Chadd is a great site (with booklets) the more info you have , then the more options... you give both you and your daughter... maybe a coach that deals with add adhd.....hope i helped...:o)

A team that is experienced in the diagnosis of ADD/ADHD is the best way. Too often, it is misdiagnosed by some doctor not versed in the full range of symptoms.

A great book I suggest you read for you and your daughter is "THE ADD BOOK" By Thompson and Sears. It will really help you to deal with it, should you find that is the diagnosis.

Children usually inherit it from one parent.

Since you say that your daughter has it, she must have been diagnosed by a dr. That same dr. or one that has an understanding of ADD, can referr you to one. There are signs, symptons, and of course tests that you can determine if you have it also, by going on the internet. I figure it this way, if a daughter has it, she must have gotten it by someone before her, her father or mother.
