Speech recognition software that works well for people with different accents to help deaf people use telephones, or even communicate without reading lips.

    Wheelchairs that climb stairs safely.

A lightweight remote manipulator arm on a wheelchair to help people take things from high shelves.

A sonar wand that creates a tactile display (possibly on a pad strapped to the back?) to show a blind person what is around him.

High speed devices to constantly measure the air around severe diabetics, epileptics, and people with other diseases where slight changes in a person's scent indicate impending life-threatening medical conditions. (Some people have specially trained dogs to do this.)

I could probably go on for hours. The list is as long as the list of types of disabilities.

I have been doing this for many years as I am permanently physically disabled and often find products for my needs.

Many of my friends do the same,so what's new.

    Make grocery shopping easier.

    Make doing laundry easier.

Focus on things that help people remain a independent as possible while being AFFORDABLE.
