1.-puede ser que no sean compatibles las memorias...y a la hora de uso entren en conflicto...
2.-como dice el compañero formatea en fat32 a veces los discos muy viejos no funcionan bien en ntfs
3.-prueba solo utilizando la ram de 256, puede que esa memoria si sea compatible con la mother pero puede chocar con la otra ram
4.-checa el tipo de error.....puede decir...error de paridad de memoria.....error del disco
esas son las opciones que te recomiendo

Cuando eliges la opcion de formatear dale que lo haga en el sistema ed archiivo fat32 y no en ntfs,
