New laptop cord wont charge battery?
My power cord for my laptop recently died...I replaced it with a universal cord from Best Buy. The cord will allow the laptop to run but will not charge the laptop battery. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to charge the battery?

if your laptop works with the new power cord, then it should charge the batter as well.
looks like your batter is gone!
try replacing it and see if it works

Your new laptop should be covered under warrenty.
Why don't you send it back to the service center or contact the brand's tech support and have the batt and ac adapter replaced.
If it is a second hand unit then go back to the same shop and have it replaced as normally they would give 1 month warrenty min.
Suspected h/w failure are as follows
Battery or worst case is m/b

Oh for the love of Pete!!... don't replace your battery just yet...OR send it back... sigh.
Did you make sure that you purchased the correct wattage on the AC adapter for your particular laptop? If you purchased a 65W for a 90W system, then it will be enough to power the system itself, but not charge the battery.
Check out the sticker on your AC adapter and see what wattage it says. If you purchased the incorrect one, take it back and exchange it for the right one.
I don't know what system you have, but you can check the user manual of your machine to see what the correct wattage should be. If you don't have one, just do a google search for your system, then on the manufacturers site, click on downloads. There is usually a section for user or repair manuals. Just look under the battery section to find out.
Good Luck!!
